Not downplaying what has happened to the women but the same thing (in essence) thats happening to the men, albeit the dismantling of the men's side is being done rather more subtly. Edit: Jackson seems to like doing fluffy PR pieces on all aspects of the Club. Perhaps he'd care to do one on the women? Edited yesterday at 11:26 by RevidgeBlue 1 Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted yesterday at 12:38 Posted yesterday at 12:38 Just now, bluebruce said: Really, who offered that? Allegedly Waggott sourced potential backing for the women's team from a Company which in return would have wanted to acquire a stake in the same but the owners refused. As it was a good news story about Waggott which emerged more or less immediately after he got potted I'd treat it with a lorryload of salt myself but whether or not that part is true it does seem to be the general consensus he didnt want to take the blame for the women's team being binned off. Mattyblue Posted yesterday at 12:42 Posted yesterday at 12:42 (edited) Come on Rev, don’t start slipping back into your old ways now. Occam’s Razor. There is no pro women’s team here because the owners don’t want to fund a pro women’s team. Edited yesterday at 12:42 by Mattyblue 4 Quote

We dont however know the full story behind this alleged offer of outside investment. Even if it existed, the terms being offered might might have been completely unrealistic. Bottom line is I dont think the owners really want to own a men's or a women's team any longer. The only job for Gestede and Pasha et al is to extract any remaining value whilst keeping themselves in lucrative employment for as long as they possibly can. Id say they're merely finishing off the process initiated and perfected by Waggott over many years personally, but like a player who's injured for a long time and who suddenly turns into Pele in the minds of the supporters in their absence, Waggott seems to have turned from public enemy number one or maybe two to Sir Stephen of Sandwich Kent on a galloping white steed or something since he was potted. DeeCee Posted yesterday at 18:06 Posted yesterday at 18:06 I seem to remember that @glen9mullan posted this a while back (please correct me if I'm wrong) that SW had sourced outside funding for the ladies team as it would cost £600,000.00 per season to keep us adhering to the division's ruling. This may or not be before SW was potted, but I believe it was before. (To clarify, I loathed SW). Quote

Around the same time it was disclosed that SW was sorting something out with Adidas re: club shop refurb, shirt sponsor, collab with Gary Aspen etc, I think? Then the women’s team issue was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I didn’t like Waggott for many reasons but at the very least he was trying to increase income, whereas Pasha et al seem to just seek cutback after cutback. 1 Quote

All I remember is what I’ve described in that post. Can’t remember if it was something on here or if I was told in person by someone, but I was at least made aware. I believe it ties in to the potential breaches of contract with Macron that have been alleged elsewhere. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted yesterday at 21:29 Backroom Posted yesterday at 21:29 To be fair the 8-0 loss to Chorley wasn’t so bad after all The official report says 2 of the goals could be argued as fouls https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/september/08/match-reflection--chorley-women-8-0-rovers-women/ “It should have just been 6-0, you’ll never sing that” 2 Quote
