Pears, Buckley & JRC were all signed up to decent contracts before Venkys curbed their spending (even more) during the summer of 2023,

Also backs up the "fear" of giving new long-term contracts. Not a single one of them delivered after the new contract.

Pears did for a bit, tbf. As much as I'm not a fan.

A rare bit of praise, note that Aynsley achieved a Happy Gilmore yesterday. Hole in One on a par 4 hole.

We got £1m for JRC though.

I'd rather have our assets tied down than not.

He's a better golfer than he is a GK then.

No, just a luckier one.

You sure? He wore the number one jersey for a championship team for two years. I fail to see how he could get any luckier than that.

He clearly is the player with the dodgy hair transplant then looking at that photo

Yeh, it's so dodgy it has come out looking like a baseball cap

Mental it wasn't done years ago, but is the plan to honestly have Michalski at number 2 this season? The lad hasn't even played a minute of National League and we're one injury away from having him between the sticks for a few months.

That's Rovers for you. Fans think we can't do worse than X, Venkys say hold my beer.

Seen it time after time. We definitely need a no 2 with some decent experience but bet we won't get one.

Looks like his big move to Man Utd won't materialise 🙂

Joking apart there seems to be no takers for him, not even a rumour all summer so maybe he will be brought back into the fold once the window closes.

I did read that WIGton Harriers and THATCHam Town were interested but BARNET are expected to make a late bid.

Comb off it!. There isn't a strand of evidence to support this.

That's a vey bald prediction.

If there are no bidders for Pears by the closure of the transfer window then it's a no brainer to keep him as number 2 and loan out Michalski until the January.

I thought Pears had a pretty decent season considering the many clangers the year before. He showed a lot of mental strength to come back better. I'm not suggesting he's on par with Toft, who I add hasn't won me completely over yet - that will take games and how he responds to a mistake - but I do think Pears is a useful member of the squad who could come in and perform if needed.

Ideally, we would sell him and bring in another experienced goalkeeper who is happy to be back up, but if that doesn't happen then i'm fine by that.

I find it bizarre he has been frozen out for Michaleski, can only be a financial thing as he is clearly a better and more experienced keeper at this time.

It's clearly a financial thing - him, Buckley and JRC being ushered out as they signed deals under Broughton. Probably all on 10k+ pw and doesn't fit their model of you need to be a starter to earn that.

On the other hand, if Pears rocked up to pre-season unable to train fully because of a dodgy hair transplant then completely understand why club want him moved - but that can't come at the expense of having an actual back up goalkeeper.
