So by my count Sunderland the 25th different club that has won promotion to the Premier League, some more than once (Dingles done it 4 times) since we were removed from it by these owners, and since when we have managed to avoid so much as a top 6 finish at this level in return for their 'investment'.

It's almost impressive.

Brighton had a good season for the most part they just seem to be frustratingly inconsistent which meant they just missed out on the top 6.

Palace had a solid second half to the season, but if they lose a few it may affect them next time out.

Bournemouth may struggle, fell apart around Feb time.

Surprised you haven't listed West Ham, they'll be down there unless they throw a sizeable amount of cash at next season and actually use it wisely for once.

It is just what I think. The season gone has little or no relevance to next season. I don't expect Manure or Spuds to be near the bottom. I think the Irons will be blowing bubbles around mid table.

Forest spent well over 10 million under Hughton, had a bad start to the season and Cooper took them up.

As Matty says above, its not impossible, as the teams above prove, but its a tough ask and the gap is getting bigger in my opinion.

Brentford and Bournemouth are always in danger of relegation , one bad season is all it takes and those 2 teams especially Brentford are due one .

The top 4 championship teams had the highest squad values. 

The lowest squad value of any surviving Premier league team is still double that of any of the promoted teams.

All the relegated prem teams have higher squad values than the promoted teams

One bad season is was it used to take, but this season has shown that the promoted three are often so bad it just isn’t the case anymore.

The parachute money used to be to cushion a club after it spent big trying to compete in the prem.

Now clubs go up, lube up and bend over and come back down £150 million richer.

So what you're saying is that we'd need a massive trasfer windfall, say something to the tune of ~£30million and spend less than half of that to have a real chance.

It would probably appeal to him being back in his home town, I don't think Bristol will be up there next season either.

Figured he would have had a crack at the Premier league with Sunderland before moving??

You could probably understand Dortmund, big club, same path his brother walked to become a huge name in the game. 
The other 2 though? He’ll get Champions League football at Frankfurt I suppose but you’d think, overall, he’d be better getting a season in Prem instead? Be a relegation battle but still.

I was at Wembley yesterday for the League Two playoff final and I bumped into an ex refereeing colleague from Birmingham. He is a Birmingham fan and we discussed ownership and he couldn't give their current owners enough praise. After many years of poor ownership (I recall being at a game there when the fans tried to get into the Directors area) he told me the supporters are delighted.

In the past he said they have struggled to sell twelve thousand season tickets but now have a waiting list of twelve thousand. The owners spends every home game in the fanzone pre match and put £10k behind the bar in a local pub recently. There is serious talk about a new ground too.

I honestly never thought I'd be jealous of Birmingham.

Absolute madness, have they even watched him play? Probably goes for more than Wharton with the ability of his little toe.

Fair play to him though, he should ride that high while he can and get to Dortmund.

I've not seen him much but i've not been overly impressed with him when I have. He must be better than what i've seen, he did get Young player of the season at Sunderland but if his surname wasn't Bellingham, would there be as much hype around him?

Agreed though, if he has a chance now to join Dortmund, he should probably take it.

I agree that I also havent been too impressed by Jobe whenever I have seen him. He made a big deal of changing his name on his shirt to Jobe to avoid comparisons but I wouldnt be surprised if his value is inflated due to his brother.

Mind you, 90% of the time I have seen Jude Bellingham, I havent been that impressed. He is however obviously capable of moments of absolute brilliance as we saw at the Euros. I thought his general level of performance was poor throughout the tournament but he scored that overhead kick and also a header in the group stage.
