The thing is with a signing (hopefully) like Dennis we are paying is it 30% of his wages? Forest will have held off the deal to see if anybody else would come in and pay more. It could be as simple as that. Or the player was waiting to see what interest there was. Either way it is a dangerous game, sometimes it works or we could've panicked and ended up with a lesser player.

At this stage they don't need an excuse. Two winter windows in a row they messed up a simple task in purpose, and 90% of the fan base accepted it. They could literally say nothing and the fans will accept it to get behind the lads.

They can get paperwork done before 11pm and then crack on with other stuff and confirm the deal later.

To be fair to the lad he's had so many clubs he must get confused about which side he's playing for on any given match day. He went with his instincts and rifled one into the net.
