Ghost7 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 We've been lucky the past few seasons to have some very good managers come in, sadly good managers don't last with bad owners but as we've seen in the past..... bad ones do...... 1 Quote

We'll see if VI has any bollocks for the next match. Address the clear weak point in the team, or just keep ignoring it (and watching the opposition take advantage every game). 1 Quote

B16Rover Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Is anyone concerned that every other club has said this manager starts well then form goes off a cliff? This is the 'good' bit Quote

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 8 Posted March 8 We got worked over by a pub team today. Every time a Derby player got the ball it started crying. Playing out from the back ? Not on your life, lash it up the park and see where it falls. Not our game at all and Eustace knew that. We don’t like ale house football. We don’t like it up us. We don’t do rolling our sleeves up and meeting fire with fire. The last thing Ismael would have said before they ran out was - “ Don’t let them get an early goal, quieten the crowd “. What do we do - gift them two ! Pears was shocking for the first goal. He was more concerned with avoiding a collision with the Derby player than he was getting to the ball. If I was Ismael I’d drop him just to set an example to the rest. We started off like we’d had to walk to Derby. No sense of urgency, no tempo to our game, no real enthusiasm, no obvious pattern of play. It was like a practice drill were every out field player has to touch the ball at least once before you’re allowed a shot at goal. I thought going three at the back got us into the game before half time. Having said that I wonder would we have made that change if the lad hadn’t have got injured so early on. Anyway Ismael got that right in my mind. We then get back into the game by scoring a well worked goal. Instead of playing in front of them, we got in up the side and turned them around for Gueye to smash one in. So at half time I’m thinking we can get something here. They’ve had the hard word I suspect. We come out really early, stand about in groups. And nothing happens. It reminded me of an end of season game were one team is safe in mid table and the other is scrapping to stay up. We huffed and puffed, made changes, had all the ball. But did nothing with it. Their keeper had nothing to do. We wouldn’t have scored again if we’d have played for another hour. Everything we did was predictable and obvious. I can’t escape the feeling that the players are unhappy and have given up for the season. Pears 4 I’m done. Ritchie Smallwood did better in goal and he was an outfield player Brittain 5 Saved his worst game of the season for today. Carter 6 The pick of the back 4/5. Hyam 5 Not happy on the left hand side. Ribeiro 5 Didn’t get forward enough once we went to 3 at the back. Dolan 5 Usual Dolan, lots of things wrong, did well for our goal. Tronstad 5 Not at his best today. Travis 6 At least he showed a bit of fight. One of the few not to be bullied. Kargbo - Not on long enough. I hope he’s not another one of those players who has pace but doesn’t know when to use it and when not to. Ohashi 6 Did his best, did well to pull the ball back for our goal. Could maybe have done better with his chance. He hit the target. On another day the ball goes between the keepers legs. Gueye 6 Worked hard, took his goal well on the one time we actually gave him a shooting chance. Subs. Sanderson 5 Did OK but nearly gave them a chance to make it 3-0. Cantwell 6 Tried to make things work but was playing way too deep. Woodrow 5, Poor, his close control lets him down. ACD 5 Poor, why did we let Markanday go and sign this lad ? There’s no difference. Every decision he made was wrong. In summing up - Ismael could have made a name for ihimself second half but nothing he did influenced the game. We need Baath back asap. 3 Quote
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I would drop Pears - and tell Toth he is no 1 until the end of the season. 4 Quote
Popular Post alcd Posted March 8 Popular Post Posted March 8 Pears is undoubtedly the worst keeper at Rovers for at least the last 60 years I've been supporting the club. There may have been one or two worse but they played less than 10 games and could not be considered as first choice eg Ramsbottom, Collier and Dickens. Pears has absolutely no presence and no clue how to deal with high balls in the box. Whoever - we know it's Benson-is responsible for scouting and prepping the keepers should be out of the door. But we all know it won't happen under this regime. 12 Quote

He's played 3 times - twice in the cup and once in the league. He looked no worse than Pears, and that's after basically no football. 5 Quote

Oh shut up I'm guessing he just has a list of things to say in the majority of interviews and doesn't significantly deviate. Honestly I rarely listened to any of his pressers or post match interviews whilst he was here because it was always the same. I got the feeling he wasn't interested in the media side of things and so did the bare minimum to fulfil those obligations. 1 Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Pears was and is hideous but the defending was keystone cop once again too. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Dom Hyam is half the defender (that’s being kind) when he’s not next to a decent experienced pro, like Batth. We miss him hugely. 8 Quote
roversfan99 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Dismal, gutless performance today, the first 7 minutes were obviously embarassing but the second half was arguably worse. Never did we ever even look remotely capable of threatening an equaliser, so slow, lacking in direction, cowardly and lacking urgency. Play off chances gone and I think all but 1 agree with that. Its a similar story. We had an 11 playing pretty much every week that got us into a strong position built on a 6 game run. Post christmas, injuries hit, form cant be sustained, the mental fragility returns and we have another terrible January. This time topped off by the manager who had this team punching above its weight who had enough and now we have a new manager sacked in his last 2 jobs trying to wing it so close to the season end. Some of the standouts (not in a good way) have been mentioned although no one was good. Pears is an absolute joke but will be number 1 next season no matter what. I thought Carter was really poor too, hes seen for some reason as a sellable asset but he is so inconsistent (moreso than Hyam) and has had a few bad injures. He can be really good on his day but he has also had spells of poor form and is very cumbersome. Britain has been one of our best players this season but had a stinker and could do nothing right. Travis has been badly off colour since his injury. Sanderson is an absolute bombscare, no wonder a League 1 side didnt want him. And no wonder a soon to be relegated side was happy to lend us Woodrow and laughed at us, terrible. Cozier Duberry is a waste of time too. Ismael has a drab persona and there has been no new manager bounce and if we put that performance in after a full week on the training pitch then its a big worry. 1 Quote

It was all “Leo this” “Leo that”, right up until he actually played a few matches. Quote
