DutchRover Posted Sunday at 08:06 Posted Sunday at 08:06 Pretty sure we were linked to Geubbels in Jan/last summer, so it could be similar to the Kargbo situation where we have been tracking him. Plays in Swiss league so technically the sort of small market we are looking at now. 1 Quote

I do wonder if agents fees are included in any budgets or indeed how they can budget for them when they don't know how much they will be. The latest figures show that we spent £1.1m on agents fees. 1 Quote

Purely looking at transfer fees, we spent around £3M in the summer, and a further £1M in January. There may well have been loan fees also, so possibly a further £0.5-£1M depending upon how well/badly they negotiated for the likes of Dennis, Baker etc To my recollection Gueye was just over £1M Toth was just under £1M Cantwell was circa £0.5M Ohashi was circa £0.25M (going by Elliott Jacksons quote that his fee was low 6 figures) Aiden Doherty was also signed for the U21s for circa £0.1M Kargbo was circa £1M So £4M - £5M over the course of the season sounds about right to me Edit - given the money brought in over the past 12/18 months. it should obviously have been a substantially higher amount. The sales of Wahlstedt & Gallagher effectively funded Ohashi, Gueye & Toth before we even consider the Wharton & Szmodics fees, & Raya sell on. Edited Sunday at 13:44 by KentExile 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted Sunday at 14:30 Posted Sunday at 14:30 1 hour ago, Forever Blue said: On fees or on fees plus wages? Did we spend that much on fees last summer? Yes we spent around £3-4m in the summer and around £1m in January Gueye, Toth, Cantwell, Ohashi all cost money to sign in the summer for around £3-4m and in January we signed Karbgo for around £1m. Then add wages aswell Quote

Although happy to have him next season, we need to some positive news with regards to Tronstad, Travis, Brittain & Hyam really. I expect Batth, Hedges & Weimann will all be signed up before any of the above though. 2 Quote

Strange (and frustrating) that in the summer of 2023 we backed out of signing him because we only wanted the risk of a one year deal, not a two. Two years later, we are trying to tie him down for a third year and he's been one of our best players. Might not have been in that relegation scrap if we had signed him a year earlier. 9 Quote
Claytons Left Boot Posted yesterday at 08:00 Posted yesterday at 08:00 Have seen a report from Scotland this morning that Rovers are looking to buy Celtic’s Yang, should Dolan be sold. The South Korean, who cost £2m, has played a total of 66 games for Celtic, scoring 6 goals. It took Yang a long time to ‘come good’ at Celtic Park and opinion on him is still divided. Still really a fringe or squad player, rather than a starter and a fair few of those games were coming on as a substitute. If the deal were to go ahead, I think Celtic would be looking to double their initial investment, or possibly receive up to around £5m. Say what you will about the Celtic board (biscuit tin mentality when spending money), they are tough negotiators. Quote

Any of these will rightly, expect a decent increase in salary, which just won't happen here. Quote
Torgeir Posted yesterday at 11:09 Posted yesterday at 11:09 Wonder if Gueye will leave. Not well suited for the high press and limited potential. Quote

Yeah, really get the impression that Ismael and Gueye dislike one another. Shame as on his day Gueye is absolutely unplayable. Need to unlock that. 2 Quote

Quite agree and, after having watched Yang for a couple of seasons, I’m not sure I’d want to pay that sort of fee for him, although on his day he can be quite effective. Quote

It would be very Rovers of us to let Dolan go on a free, spend a decent fee on a replacement - only to let them leave 3 years later for nothing. 1 Quote

You never know with our owners/leadership. They may have larger budgets for shiny new things than they do for contract renewals. Quote

We won't be paying anywhere near £5m for a player, the clowns in charge have already stated that we won't be. It's highly unlikely that we'll be paying £2m for a player either, £1.5m would be our ceiling I reckon. Quote

Celtic probably won’t want to sell him, as he’s become a decent squad member. Just trying to point out the amount Celtic would want to receive for him, in the hypothetical situation of him becoming available. It’s a non starter. Quote
