Mark Brfc beat me to it but -

No, just cheaper inferior ones to replace the ones we've already got.

How much cheaper can we go? The squad is made up of FAs and Academy players.

Off at a complete tangent as I've only just found this out

Peter Shilton was 40 years old in the 1990 world cup.

The rest of my day is completely in the clouds.😐

With Waggott being master Teflon - his departure, along with the very fast phase on ticket deadline as JHrover pointed out does hint at a very bleak summer ahead

possible outgoings with value £

- brittain, Travis, tronstadt, cantwell, Carter (not the value we once hoped)

no real money for Dolan too

cheap fee outgoings

- pears, Buckley, JRC

No idea what to expect inbound but imagine a bunch of unknown quantities who are unproven at this level

There is only a trajectory of decline in any business when the primary objective is cost cutting. You can get lucky for a while, but in the end it will fail. I guess the intention is to keep unearthing cheap gems, but even if we manage to achieve that we would probably not tie down their contract due to penny pinching. They can rebrand their so called model as many times as they like, but the true model is to save money and it’s an utterly depressing state of affairs with a downward trajectory.

Weirdly though unproven are a better gamble than proven to be crap

Yeah and he looked it when falling backwards into the net.

Should have been dropped after '86, people can say what they want about the hand of god but that was awful goalkeeping.

Didn't get anywhere near any of Germany's pens in the Semi Final,a plank of wood would have come closer to saving one.

I think on "Gazzas Tears - One night in Turin" one of the players says I cant remember ever seeing Peter save a penalty 😐

Batth was involved in 37 games for us this season.  Would Wrexham pay more?

He probably wants to leave, so he may take the same wage with a sweetener..

I'm pretty confident Batth won't be here next season.

Elliot reckons we offered him his new deal around Easter time.

Or if he does end up signing, it will be later in the window if he doesn't end up getting any better offers.

it takes a glacial amount of time to do anything at ewood,we waited ages for mcfadzean to sign an extension last year,no idea why you can`t agree a deal quickly with a player who is already on the payroll

How does a 6ft goalkeeper get out jumped by a dwarf?

Or you deliberately string it along, saving yourself a few grand. As you say, it was ages for his signing to complete - but his contract expired at the end of June. I wouldn't be surprised if the board deliberately took as long as they did to save £20k or whatever he would have received in those weeks

‘How much cheaper can we go’?

We can always go cheaper here. Look at the absolute dross we had on the pitch in the late Bowyer era or under Coyle (him included).

Alan Nixon saying that Rovers are close to sorting out a new contract for Brittain so us looking to sign Small from Charlton less important. Derby are battling Rovers for Batth signature

Small is a a left back who has been playing right wing this season, whilst he can play at right back, it would be a very strange decision to sign a left footed player as a first choice right back.

Personally think he would be a decent option further forwards, but unless someone is leaving at left back, signing him as a full back option makes little sense.

Unless he has a burning desire to move back up north (He was born in the midlands but was originally a youngster at Everton before moving down south to Southampton then Charlton), I imagine he will sign for Millwall or similar

Small will sign for Preston i think.

Really good player who i think if played on the right wing would contribute more than Hedges.

Contributing more than Hedges is not a very high bar.

That is Nicko's story that PNE will go big for Small and he is one of their key targets. Probably will play one of their wing roles there.
