He apparently has, but looking at hm, I cannot imagine he plays RW as a winger.Β  He looks like someone who will move inside when we are in possession to make a 2nd "10" alongside Cantwell, allowing the right back to overlap, but is able to help out defensively on the right when we are not in possession

I would wonder if we are down to 2, would Baradji be competition /cover for bothe AM & RW, and a CB is also still being sought after

Then we'd be short in CM and RW.Β

It's Baradji plus a CB I'm thinking.

No where near enough, but when has thay bothered anyone at the club above the manager before?

would that surprise you?

Yes. They can't have watched this team in pre-season and have thought everything is hunky-dory at RW. I can see them convincing themselves that Kargbo and DeNeve are enough at LW, but at RW we have a big black hole.Β

A DM who can play out there in a pinch isn't going to cut it.Β

Even a club as dysfunctional as ours surely wouldnt go into a season with the only right winger being Ryan Hedges.

Im thinking the 2-3 are this Baradji, a right winger and then the maybe is the centre back.

Still short but its so glaringly obvious we need a right winger and we havent improved the front line at all.

I can't understand your first point.Β  Can I suggest before you fire off post after post, you sense check what you have written so folk may be able to understand!

As to point two, how do you know there have been no new bids "since Boro bid over 2 weeks ago" -Β  if my information is correct and I believe it is, you are plain wrong.

Chaddy tells us he no longer drinks alcohol.Β  He now prefers the intoxication of my posts and he just can't get enough!

I'm pretty sure he's got me on ignore, the fact you aren't leads me to think you're right!

I think we'll see 2 permanent and 2 loans despite the manager seemingly being against loans. Then I'd hope we replace any major departures although how good these would be is anyones guess.

I'm curious what the plan is for when Brittain leaves. Duru? Loan? Permanent to compete with the new lad?

I'd really hope it's a permanent to compete, most likely be a loan though, still think it's too soon for Duru. Maybe another loan for him.

Question for those saying CB - are we not done there after signing the Hull lad? That will be 4 with him + Hyam, Carter, Wharton (yes fitness concerns for the latter two). But realistically signing a 5th will just stunt the development of the others - 5th choice CB should really be someone in the youth set-up.

Also surely we'll have to dive into the loan bucket soon. I know it's marmite for people, but it's a crucial way to improve the starting 11 and teams with success in the league are often loaded with good loans (usually paying good wage for it though i'd add). We need more Beck, Elliott, Van Hecke, Baker types though and less Dennis, Woodrow, Mola.

We should be realistically picking up 2 loans from higher divisions, who should be good enough to be in the starting 11 for a mid-table Championship side.

For me, the essentials are the need for starting RW and ST. This is the bare minimum we should be expecting from ownership.Β

I think this highlights just how few good options we have at the top end of the pitch.Β

Any creativity is from De Neve downwards, and there is very little there.

7 players across 4 positions (assuming 4-2-3-1 formation), and that includes Leonard and assumes all are fit.

We have gambled massively so far on signings. Other than McLouglin nobody has a clue if these mystery lads are going the way of Tronstad or Telalovic.

At this point you have to expect it’s a weaker side than last season.

Attacking wise especially, Dolan and Weimenn were major goal contributors and have yet to be replaced.

Telalovic did come from the German 4th division. He was always a dark horse to be anything.Β

This whole Baradji story is a 'strange' one. My take on it:

- Player wants the move

- Rovers knows this and are trying with a low-ball offer (pay as you play) to get the player to sign for less than what was initially agreed upon (i.e. prior to his medical).

- If player has a foot fracture, then surely his current club (Yverdon Sport) wouldn't allow him to play 70+ minutes in the first competitive game of the season and risk aggravating the injury (and lose transfer money in the process).Β

- He played 27 matches averaging 80 minutes per game last season including five matches in the final month of May (on the 6th, 10th, 14th, 17th and 22nd). I find it quite unlikely that the injury is serious given the match congestion during the latter stages of the Swiss league last season and the fact that he played regularly for the club since December last year.

-If he has a foot fracture, has he been playing with painkillers lately? If yes, for how long? How has he managed to not aggravate his injury during this period given his style of play and number of minutes he's been playing?

Another theory could be that Rovers doesn't want to pay any fee up front and only smaller instalments/game until player reaches a certain limit (say something like Β£30 K per match until player reaches 50 matches in total since reported fee was in the region of Β£1.5 million). This could explain why Yverdon Sport doesn't feel like they're getting any value of a potential deal/ can't bring in an immediate replacement and thus allowed him to play yesterday until a better offer comes by.Β

The medical issue seems more of an excuse from Rovers' side to try to renegotiate the terms of the deal rather than actual concern that the player might not stay fit for large parts of the season.Β

It looks like he's played there before, but he's primarily a DM.Β

We desperately need a specialist RW. It's the glaring hole in the starting XI.

Yeah, I'm not sure you can have a DM who can play RW. Certainly feels like the positions (or at least what you want from players in those positions) couldn't be further apart.Β

Yeah we desperately need a decent RW

Telalovic was down the list of options and we had tried to sign better strikers all summer before we ended up with him. I suspect we're about to experience a bit of the same this summer.

It would be a huge risk not signing a centre back

Not having a pop at you as you're not the only one to say it, but we have 4 senior centre backs but only 2 senior strikers. Why is a CB more of a priority than a striker?

(I'm guessing the answer will be something along the lines that you only start with one striker these days but nevertheless once Carter is fit,Β  two injuries and/or suspensions in either department leaves us able to cope at CB but without a single striking option and you alsoΒ  need a lot more striking options on the bench, you dont usually bring a CB on to try and change the game)

I think 5 CB's is too many personally.

I'd agree that CB must be low on the list, Wharton may be off injury but has probably been the best in pre-season and they will want a "pathway" for Atcheson/Litherland etc

Wharton might excel in friendlies against Accrington Stanley and the likes, but he wasn't good enough to start before his latest injury and most certainly isn't now. He's a good squad player, if he can keep himself fit.

I can't believe they have said we only need 2 more signings. The lack of planning and signings over the last few summers has led to the panic buys/disastrous January transfer windows we've recently had and us falling away at the end in the last 4 seasons. It's a long season.

If you get it right in the summer you don't need to bring in 5 or 6 in January. Look at Bristol City last year, they didn't sign anyone in Jan but made playoffs (they could have probs done with 1 or 2).

The squad will be padded out with youngsters, they should be out on loan getting game time, not a few mins here and there. Rovers will be forced to play Tyjon in order to keep him at the club. Is he ready? I hope so, but I doubt we can rely on him week in week out off the bench.Β

Quality off the bench is lacking and has been for a while.

We desperately need a right winger.

we dont need a third striker, we'd just like one.

We need cover for cantwell unless tyjon is ready now (don't think he is).

We could do with extra cb cover.

Baradji confuses me unless we lose one of the current centre mids as we currently have 5 senior ones (travis, tronstad, tavares, buckley, forshaw) and young Montgomery who they appear to like.

My guess is one more permanent unless brittain leaves and then to see what the premier league loan market brings

Tavares can play further forward so I imagine he will cover Cantwell.Β

Lots of unproven premier league wingers out there. I’m sure we will end up with one of them. Might even get a young CM in and send Buckley out of loan.Β
