At risk of sounding like Chaddy, I think preseason has been promising, building on end of last season. Ismael has impressed me more than I expected when we signed him.

De Neve and Alebiosu both got full preseason with team and look useful players who fit the style. And its been good to see Tyjon get first team action. McGloughlan is more of a known, but good competition for Wharton. Taveres who knows.

We still need signings, especially if Brittain goes. RW is a disaster with just Hedges, and we could do we support at RB/CB/ST.

I 100% reject the cost cutting and club killing actions by the ownership, but the scouting system does seem to be doing its job at least, they're just hamstrung with a budget of two peanuts.

we can`t be that short of money to be penny pinching like that,**** me i was `nt expecting barcelona to show up,anyone would have doneπŸ™‚

And to think there's a generation or 2 who have no recollection that Barcelona did actually show up. We won 3-2, Sparky scoring the winner (I think) against a side which contained Cocu, Overmars, Puyol and Xavi. Good times.Β

Brittain was/is a good atttacking player, seemingly the only one who could consistently put in a good cross or a penetrating lateral pass into the danger areas. Defensively he’s improved from poor up to average. If we are intending on playing with a totally defensive back four and two real wingers he won’t be a great loss. If we are expecting more from the full backs we’ll miss him a lot.

50% of those games came in the space of 7-days, during a very turbulent transitional period due to the departure of Eustace, and subsequent, mid-season appointment of Ismael.... We also lost at home to Portsmouth and Boro in that run of 5 defeats on the spin. You can't tell me we'd have picked up 0 points in those 5 games had Eustace stayed in charge.Β

we won 3 nil at home to PortsmouthΒ Report: Rovers 3-0 Portsmouth | rovers.co.uk

Sooooo are we reinvesting some money by signing Miller with selling Brittain? 😳😳😳

Probably not, more like spending the money we were using on Baradji.

Polish lad has scored another 2 today. 4 in 3.Β  Taking it a good sign that he's still playing for them (i.e. no Monaco etc)Β

Miller and him for Brittain?

I would be gutted if Brittain was to leave, I was big fan of his and I was saying for months before we signed him we should have been signing him and he was the type of modern type full back we need.Β

Not if Derby don't stump up a deal acceptable to Rovers.Β  Would be amazed if Brittain and Eustace haven't had a tete-a-tete!

Don't think it's a case of 'holding out' - can't do anything unless a club comes up with a deal Rovers prepared to accept.

Moving the goal posts again Mercer, your info was wrong. Derby haven't even made another bid since over 3 weeks ago.Β

Supposedly Boro is his preferred destination from most of the reports out if a bid is acceptΒ

Lewis Miller is the Aussie apparently - Fee approx Β£1.5m and can play RB and RCB - big, powerful and highly rated. Seems a good signing if it happens.

never seen him play but someone people seem to know he is good player and he can play right back and centre back. Seems like they have lined up Callum Brittain's replacement before he leave. Gutted he is leaving tho. one of the best right backs in the league. Just Hope Miller is good enough replacement.Β

Would have preferred to play Everton at a later date. Still a good competitive game but could of been tougher game a week or two later

Everton couldn't have played later as they are currently playing in the USA

Less than inspiring reviews of Miller.

Granted most people don't know what they're looking at, but still.

The common consensus seems to be both on there and on social media that he has something about him and has some stand out attributes but also is quite raw and makes mistakes. Still, most seem to want him to stay.

The concerning recurring theme though is that his pick up in form came when he moved from right back to right centre back. Many people I have seen on twitter have said that he was very good in a back 3 but crap at right back and obviously he will be playing right back here.

I think Miller is a decent replacement and I'm pleasantly surprised we're actually signing a replacement for Brittain.Β

Miller has all the 'battle hardened' traits to be succesful here. Adds height to the team, can play CB, played at international level, very rarely gets beaten 1v1, and has a long throw. By all accounts, good defensively but not great going forward.

Size, pace, and athleticism is a clear strategy this summer. Not sure of the calibre of player generally, but at least there is some kind of strategy I suppose! I suspect Baradji will sign at some point too who also fits that wider strategy. We're gonna try and outrun and outmuscle teams this season. Probably the right approach given we can't afford top players.

Normally we would get north of Β£5m for a player like Brittain but with one year left on his contract he's one of the bargains of the summer.Β

Will be difficult to replace, and any replacement will be a downgrade. Wonder where our goals and assists will come from...heavy burdens on the shoulders of Ohashi and Gueye this season. Are they good enough to deliver 10+ goals each?

Apparently Miller has a devastating long throw on him.

Can he put it in from his own half because he is playing with at least 6 league 1 players

why asked me then? utter pointless asking me that question.Β

Who knows when it was film. Rovers could have had training this morning and then fly to Holland later in the day. I don't know.Β Β

Lot of revisionism about Brittain on here.

He isnt a flash in the pan, he is a stand out full back at this level.

He's always been good for us, people on here started giving him stick for ages because he bottled a challenge (which he got injured in) but he's always been a top full back.
