Pasha does not have a clue about football, that is quite apparent.

i believe after all the talk about Wharton leaving for relative peanuts in this day and age, he thinks he’s doing the fans a favour and asking for more cash.

he won’t know that Wharton is destined for big things and to be fair Leonard is probably heading towards his level.

let him go and build a decent career and get a new striker in the door.

Think that account is full of shit.

Same account had us interesred in Vincent Janssen earlier. As a free agent despite him having a club.

Seems like a new account desperate to be seen as an ITK.

He may well sign, but this account doesnt know either way.

Not really. He may join, he may not, that account doesnt know either way.

See post above from me about the guess of supposed free agent Vincent Janssen.

In fairness to Tony Field, although we signed him 'only' from Southport (think the fee was another £20k?), if my memory is correct, he was still in his early 20's, had clocked up 100+ appearances and was a 1 goal in 3 games forward.  Wouldn't we snap a club's hand off for something similar now!?

Was gutted for weeks when Tony Field left.  Exciting lil player.  Not sure how he did after he left us.

It's concerning that Gent want to ditch him after a year, for what they paid for him - but then again Alan Shearer isn't walking through that door. We'll just have to see if he's any good if he signs for us.

He may but he’s not match fit

You can’t really redefine “x player is not up to it” when they’ve played less than an hour in the league.

It really doesn't matter whether our new signings are good or bad. If they turn out bad we'll  probably be relegated.

If they turn out to be excellent the best 4 or 5, will be sold off at the end of the season ,the bulk of the transfer money will go to recurrent expenditure and we'll start "the project" again.

If they are mediocre, we'll just bumble along as usual.

That's the reality of being owned by Venkys now and why I don't care half as much as I used to.

He'd be cracking in goal. We'd never concede.

I can’t agree with that, as his legs would be permanently wide open.

Followed Furphy to 1st Division Sheffield Utd. Don't think he did much there but ended up at New York Cosmos who at the time had signed people like Pele and Beckenbauer at the end of their careers.

Famously there's a picture of him with Pele, Id imagine he's the only ex Rovers player to have played with him! Not sure if any played against him when he was younger.

Did he not score MOTDs goal of the season at Sheffield, beating about six players and rounding the goalie?

Not sure.

Having looked it up it seems as though Terry Garbutt (who I thought was really ordinary) went to Sheffield Utd and Cosmos at the same time as Tony Field and also played with Pele.

Amateur hour all round here, Chaddy.

The idea is plausible, but the evidence in support of it is not even paper thiiiiiiiiiinnnn!

Yet Rovers still need to sign a striker.

I know it's easy to look at G/A from a players previous season, and judge, but there's good pedigree in Gudjohnsen.

He came through academies like Real Madrid, Top scorer in the Danish league, experience in the conference league (including an assist) against Chelsea, full international with a few goals already...All this and he's still so young...He's got loads of time to develop and it simply hasn't worked out for him at Gent. If he'd scored a few more he'd have top European clubs looking at him.

Taking all of the above into consideration, I find it slightly strange that others arnt in for him - Is he injured?

His dad wasn't a prolific scorer at all, but he was class! Tall strong and pacey with good technique, good ball control and intelligence

Copyright to Clayton’s Left Boot. The best player in the world and no 10, Pele

Yeah his dad was a really good player.

Was roughly a 10-15 goal a season man at Bolton/Chelsea then his goals really dried up when he got to Barcelona.

I hope he's half as good as his dad if he was to sign as I really enjoyed watching him play.

Barcelona moved him back into midfield if I recall.

It seems he was still a 1 in 3 striker when played up front, but spent a fair bit of time further back whilst at Barca

Played as...
Centre-Forward 39 13 4
Attacking Midfield 22 2 -
Left Winger 6 1 -
Right Winger 3 - 1
Central Midfield 3 - 2
Second Striker 1 - 1
