norwichblue Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Just watched the videos of Millar announcement etc on X. He seems like a character. Built like a brick shit house too. Don’t think he’s going to take any shit. Val’s definitely going for physical power houses. 4 Quote

Just a little bit concerning that nearly all the Hibs fans comments on Miller say he was much better as a RCB in a back three than he was at RB. Guess we'll find out soon enough Quote

You dont need an expensive player but you need senior cover. Be interesting who's on the bench at West Brom, and particularly who plays against Bradford. It may just be that the club really rate Michalski. We'll soon find out if Pears goes, there's no way Ismael would do without replacing him unless he was certain. Quote
roversinmyblood Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I’m more than a little concerned with the signing of Miller as a right back when multiple Hibs fans say he is very good as a RCB in a back three, but a liability at RB or RWB. They seem to issue dire warnings if we intend to play him at RB!! 1 Quote

I think he played a half-dozen games and scored once vs Preston in the cup. 🇸🇪 Speaking of Scandinavian players. Per Pedersen 🇩🇰 for £2.5m was one of those signings that really were part of the catalyst to the fall from grace. Donis, Davidson, Dahlin, Valery and (Tore & Per) Pedersen were all pretty woeful arrivals in the 12 months following Alan Shearer's departure... only Stéphane Henchoz was a successful signing in 2 years. No wonder we quickly fell off a cliff. Perez was ok but didn’t stay long. Quote

Tomphil2 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 (edited) This posing with a bunch of roses like the front page of a porn mag is grim. The guy looks more stoked to be here than anybody since ..er ..Brittain when he signed ! Edited August 4 by Tomphil2 1 Quote
norwichblue Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Quote from Miller: “I’m super energetic, passionate, maybe a little bit aggressive and I will give absolutely everything to get three points. At the end of the day, you have to go out there, break a few things and do whatever you can to win the game. “I will have a tendency to get forward every time we have possession and I will be up and down that line and doing everything I possibly can for this club. “I’m doing it for myself, but I know that if I play my game and help the team by doing what I do best, I know everything else will follow.” Love the guy already. Not sure if it’s by association with Brett Emerton but I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be a success at Rovers. 3 Quote
BRFC4EVA Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I was a big fan of Davidson. Thought he was an excellent left back. Am I miss remembering as I would have been 11 when he signed in 1998? Quote

NeilInBristol Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Equally worried about this guy do Scottish league players ever do well in the championship? ? hedges hasn’t exactly been fantastic and he was doing ok up there Quote

There’s been quite a few decent players from the Scottish leagues so I’m happy to see what he’s like. Happy we actually bought someone in tbf. 3 Quote
Southside Rover Posted August 4 Posted August 4 If Michalski is backup, does it not stop his progress. Usually the younger squads play the same day so is there not a risk he barely plays any football and just benefits from 1st team training barring a Toth injury, suspension or collapse of form? Quote
roversfan99 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Assuming this Swedish player does sign, that will presumably be 5 players aged 23-24 signed on longer term deals. That in isolation is obviously a positive, question now is are they any good. Added to that, an experienced Championship defender for 2 or 3 years. We have had ripped apart the defensive strength of our team though, to lose Brittain, Beck and Batth is a massive blow (also lost 2 extra bodies who were just cover) and its very, very difficult to see us equalling that quality. The signings we have made do seem to have more filled holes in the squad/replaced outgoings/added depth (which was needed) rather than improved the first 11. As I said, that did need doing. The key 2 objectives though still havent been solved even slightly. Been shot down for banging on about it before but the contract situation still lingers as a gigantic elephant in the room. We have to pay the going rate to get our core of key players sorted, it cant just be put off. If a decent proportion of these younger players come good on top of a core of proven players signed down for the forseeable, then theres reason for optimism. If they leave, then its easy to see an inexperienced group tumble down the league as it did under Tomasson when he was left out to dry. The futures of Tronstad, Travis and Hyam still remain as the key part of the rest of this window, especially as Brittain ws part of that and has left. Our attack wasnt good enough last season and now its much weaker. We have to soon make inroads on fixing that ASAP. 3 Quote

Absolutely. It makes no sense beside financial to have an 18 year old as number 2. He either becomes exposed or falls betwen the cracks. 1 Quote

We could also run through a long list of players who have left the SPL who we'd be delighted to sign. I know the question is direct SPL to Championship, but there's lots of talent in Scotland. 2 Quote
Fraserkirky Posted August 5 Posted August 5 A taller Lucas Neil Is about as good a comparison for Lewis Miller as you’re gonna find, EXTREMELY good in the air. 4 year deal and a good age, international. Like this signing a lot. Still No sign of a Right Winger… 3 Quote
Bbrovers2288 Posted August 5 Posted August 5 As a Scot I feel I’m better equipped than most to comment on miller and yea it’s a decent enough signing, big strong lad that will show plenty of blood and guts. He isn’t Callum brittain in that he won’t give us goals and assists but he will make us stronger defensively. I get the trepidation with coming from Scotland but I was against the hedges signing but I’m ok with this one. More Lucas Neil than Brett Emerton but I think we needed toughening up a bit 3 Quote
