People being honour by the club are Jack Walker, Ronnie Clayton, Bryan Douglas, Tony Parkes, Mike Newell, David Dunn and Tony Mowbray.

Newell? Mowbray?

Not Kenny? Tugay? Shearer? Souness?

If we can take our chances, we can put the brummie to the sword. I'm going 3-0 Rovers.

Finally a bit of optimism on the forum!

I don’t have high hopes for our future under the Venky’s regime, and I think we’re going to have a tough season ahead, but I do think the doom mongering has been overblown on here.

Birmingham will be tough visitors for sure, but I don’t think they’ll just roll us over as easily as some are predicting?!

What a fucking joke.

The guy that held us back for years when the owners actually still retained a bit of an interest being honoured.

Mowbray represents the ONLY successful period in the Venky reign of the last 15 years that's why he is getting one.

Even then we had to go to league 1 first but he stopped things getting instantly worse at the time so they should be eternally grateful.

Birmingham fan here in peace. I can understand the negative attitude amongst your fanbase, however you can take comfort that we don't have a great record at your place. Our last win there came in December 2013, but that is our only win in our last 30 league and cup visits to Ewood Park, dating back to January1968. Oh and no league double over you since 1950/51. I'm going 1-1.

Bradford’s last win at Ewood was 1921, until last Tuesday.

We hadn't lost to Burnley in over 30 years before this lot bought the club but now we haven't beaten them for over 15 years !

Stats have no influence on the outcome of future games.

If you read the article, it says different people will receive these caps throughout the season.

In fairness Rev, there are a lot of supporters who think that Mowbray did a more than decent job.  Personally, I thought he brought a period of much needed stability to the club and did a sound job for us.

Conversely:-

I agree with most of the posts re the dire situation we find ourselves in (on and off the pitch) but...

...this is footy. Just like Rovers to eke out a win or draw. Cue all the 'new regime' apologists to lord it for a bit -you know how it goes:

-time to bed in, new project, totally new personnel etc etc

And, although sharing the general gloom (who wouldn't given the last 14 years), 10 games is time for a fair assessment.

Venkys out obvs.

In terms of things that angered me under Venky’s, I’m not sure Mowbray even makes the top 20.

he was ok was tony, risk averse with his team shapes but a decent coach and top bloke

Im not too sure on that, I'd say the comment regarding fans needing to remember in not 94/95 anymore with Shearer and Sutton was very naughty.

It was self serving and not a fair comment from somebody who carried weight in the game, knowing people in the game would see it as an honest, assessed comment.

Maybe not.

However no-one is telling me he's not part of the reason we're in as much of a mess as we are.

We all knew the owners would lose interest eventually, admittedly it took a lot longer than expected and a Court case,  but Mowbray plodded along like the Club was his own private pension fund regardless.

Ditto Waggott.

He isnt why we are in the mess we are in now, at all.

Seemingly, when you get a dislike of someone, it really sticks in your head permanently even if their spell here becomes an irrelevance.

He hasnt been here for 3 or 4 years.

This idea that he was purposely avoiding the massive pay rise that a promotion would bring just shows that hatred is coming in over any semblance of logic.

But either way, hes been gone for long enough whereby any damage he personally did (which I cant see, youll have to be specific) would have worn off.

Also, did it take only until recently for Venkys to lose interest?

They havent attended a game in about 10 years. Most summers saw minimal spending even before the court case.

Whatever.

We needed someone ambitious  like JDT or Eustace in charge when Mowbray was here.

Perhaps, but whoever had been in charge. Promotion would have been a long shot.

The issue is that you perpetuate a myth that Venkys were ploughing £20m in as if it went on the team. Rather than just being a standard Championship situation whereby expenses are higher than the income clubs receive, so just raising funds to offset that to pay liabilities.

Now you are saying that they only lost interest recently coinciding with the court case. They lost any flicker of initial interest very quickly after purchasing the club.

No doubt that was said every time before we've played them, sorry but they often do.

Yes there is. Club announce it yesterday

Its will be over a period of the season if you looked at the article.

Shearer will be with the BBC on Saturday watching all the games and presenting the Match of the day with it being PL opening weekend of games.

Newell was a very good player for us just like Mark Atkins or Brad Friedel or MGP was. I'm sure they will be plenty of former players getting these honour caps over the season
