Yeah for sure, I think that in certain scenarios where you have really standout players (like Szmodics when he was here) then yes, those types should always be first on the team sheet.

In the case of Rovers CBs that my original post was referring to, I wouldn't say McLoughlin is one of those standout players. He had a decent start to the season but was foolish to get himself sent off against Norwich. Since then Rovers have done very well defensively and not conceded a goal, so that's my logic for keeping the pairing as is.

Also sometimes need to consider the pairing of players as well. Some players have better chemistry on the pitch than others. I think its too early to say which CB pairing has the best chemistry in this team.

Again, that is where the manager has to make the decision who, in his opinion, is the best player . Sentiment shouldn't enter the equation.

If we lose this, it would need Southampton and Derby to pick up unlikely looking points with Oxford and Watford having winnable home games and we would be in the bottom 3 on Saturday evening...

I can remember a dire 3-0 defeat at the Valley when Rovers produced one of the worst performances I have ever seen when a win would have kept us in with a sniff of promotion some 40 years ago.

In a cheery mood this morning!

Has there been anymore on Carter’s injury, other than Ipswich pre-match he sustained “a knock”?

Suspect we'll find out more from Ismael after his pre match presser, but the silence from the club possibly suggests that he's out for another sustained period of time.

Away pubs @ Charlton? Last time I went (PROMOTION PARTY) the pub across from the train station had been closed due to a smoke bomb being let off by some Rovers fans!

Any luck with finding a good spot?

If it pisses it down in London, and were a goal down, Ismael should bring the players off. We know the outcome now, the goals scrubbed and it's a replay. I usually put a smiley face at the end, but I'm fucking serious

One thing is that the pressure has been completely taken off VI and the players this week due to all the talk being about the abandonment.

Might help. Who knows?

It certainly helps the laughing tractor boys, goal scrubbed, and man sent off scrubbed, and the final swansong, they beat us in the replay.

Not yet, someone did suggest a place called the Angerstein as a place for away fans but not heard an awful lot. Will be keeping my ear to the ground.

The Bugle Horn, at the top of the hill behind the ground, was good the last time I went to Charlton.

From 1-0 up Saturday, to possibly being in the bottom 3 Saturday night.

Not if we beat Charlton.

I’ll never forget that 3-2 game in 2004. Was over for my 30th. Had a real good time in the pub before the game and it was indeed a game to remember for all the wrong reasons. Heartwrenching when that 3-2 went in. Great away support on the day as well!

So the day and time of reckoning has come at last! Please please please beat this lot 3-2 with the final goal in injury time. Make their keeper come up to score an equalizer then squash their hopes with a silky finish. COYB!

What? The pressure has been piled back on - that's 3 points we've lost.

I believe they sent him to see a specialist as he felt something in training and they want to get to the bottom of it.
