We might well have gone up but to say we would probably still be a Premier club now is a bit of a stretch. That team was nowhere near the quality of several of the teams that have gone up and come straight back down in the last few years. And we can be fairly certain Venkys wouldn't have invested the funds required to stay up. Quote

We never got near to paying £5m for Gallagher, or £6m/£7m for BBD, as that would have required promotion / etc. The same way that our outbound transfers are add-on or clause heavy. And, for the record, I think Broughton had a strategy and it was clearly hamstrung by interference within the club. Szmodics, Hyam, Brittain, Tronstad are all significantly better than anything we've signed since. As someone else has already said: O'Brien and Undav arrive in that transfer window and we're probably still a Prem club now. Im quite happy to take fees quoted by the Club at face value. What I can't be doing with is people who try to have it both ways ie. "We're showing ambition" when it's claimed we've spent £3m but when the player flops they say "Well it wouldn't really have been anything like £3m due to add ons". 2 Quote

Gallagher was 5 mill with 3 million up front and the rest over the course of his initial contract, which he saw out. BBD was the famous 'flex' where it was a big fee small wages with a big lump up top then the rest over his contract, which he saw out. The inital Raya money went towards Gallagher, Mowbray said this himself it was in the LT at the time. I think i'm right in saying the accounts post BBD showed there was a big lump paid up top for him. We had a brief spell then of them actually using a bit of their perceived financial clout but obviously it didn't last. Edited 13 hours ago by Tomphil2 Quote
bigbrandjohn Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago If this isn’t the quintessential definition of dicking around in the transfer market I don’t know what is. https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/blackburn-rovers-sheffield-wednesday-bailey-cadamarteri-5494211 An extra 50K. Someone is going to sweep him up for more than that. 6 Quote

I was going to say, there's 4 months spent moaning that they won't buy players, then the next 4 months is spent trying to disprove that they have 🤣 1 Quote

Torgeir Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Cadamareri should be in the same price bracket as Leonard so just under £1m. Owls are skint so probably want cash now, and Cadarteri is likely not on big wages like Bannan was, so no big rush to sell perhaps. Quote

Ghost7 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago If we only manage to bring in Cadamarteri it's a shambles and I doubt they can even pull that off. Given our current circumstances low ambition deals like this shouldn't be taking this long. 3 Quote

yellowsubmarine Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I take a 36 yo Bannan over Cadamarteri any day. Our key problem is we can't create, 2nd we can't finish. 2 Quote
yankfan Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Please tell me again how/why we are better off with our current ownership stricter than we would be without them? Quote

Ricky Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Cadamatari managed 5 goals in league 1 last season. Leonard has smashed through that by January. Should never have been sold when we are so short up top. 2 Quote

Should never have been sold when we are so short up top. It is a moot point, that the club (aka Mr Short pants and the Shadow Hider) thought it 'good business' to sell a young prospect to a lower league club only to try to replace him with a clearly inferior alternative at a much higher cost. If anything shows the abject incompetence and incredible ineptitude of the Chuckle Brothers then this is it. It also highlights the much greater long term impact of their weird pseudo-strategy, which places Blackburn Rovers on an inevitable and predictable decline towards failure. Why there is no outrage amongst the fan base about the constant opening of the seacocks by these destructive knobheads is a mystery to me. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see the trajectory keeps being revised down and the likely outcome keeps becoming gloomier under their odious hands. Knobheads OUT! VENKYS OUT! Quote
