Oh Christ, it's gonna be Phil Jones isn't it?

"Cut his teeth" coaching Man Utd U14's, probably a shoe in with these clowns in charge

Our best opportunity for me is a Savage or a Duff, know the club in its best form, would clearly be a step up for them, but both played at the top level and know what it takes to be successful. Worked with elite players and will galvanise supporters and players over the next few months.

I would find a Wagner/ Rowett appointment uninspiring and think it would likely leave us in the same situation as we are now in 12 months time, when they get sick of Venky’s/ Rudy and Suhail.

Coleman would be a joke appointment and surely Mowbray/ Warnock and Allardyces days are over.

Neither Duff or Savage would recognise the club we've become.

Not a no but it would be very unusual for an official club interview to directly address the rumours and then him actually leave afterwards.

Can't see it happening. It's going to be someone none of us have even thought of from overseas I expect. That's the only way of finding someone willing to work under this 'structure' who hasn't already heard all the horror stories of this regime.

The trouble with our board, to say that take ages to make a decision is putting it mildly. The “Ents” out of Lord of the Rings make a decision quicker. By the time they appoint somebody even a competent manager will have too few games to turn it around.

I'm amazed Johnson isn't close to the top of that list. It is becoming quite clear, if ever we needed it to, that there was nobody lined up to come in and  no succession plan despite having had weeks/months to prepare for this

I think the obvious and natural outcome is going to be to hand it to Johnson until the end of the season when they realise what competent managers want in terms of wages and assurances.

Has Johnson's view on management changed? To my knowledge he has always said that he did not want a manager's job and has always been pretty reluctant to do it even on a caretaker basis.

Just some name dropping:

Julian Calero. Left Levante November 2025. Without work. Former assistant manager for Spain and most recently manager for Levante. PPM 1.57. Got Levante promoted from Segunda, but was sacked after poor results in La Liga.

Barry Ferguson: Former player. Has been caretaker for Rangers. 1,53 ppm. Very little CV.

Remi Garde: Has been Rudy’s manager. French speaking. Been out of work since 2019.

Tim Sherwood: Former player. Was Rudy’s manager. Sherwood signed Gestede to Villa. He is probably ready to go back in to coaching. Can see this one getting attention.

The board cannot hold back this decision.  We must weather such things as we've always done.

Ferguson, like Gestede was also badly behaved on wanting to leave Rovers if I remember correctly.

Aligned to the project then

Didn't he say that our 'derby' with Bolton was nothing compared to Celtic v Rangers? Clearly no knowledge of who our actual rivals were.

Absolutely no time for him.

Ferguson was a coward and a con man. That whole move back to UVF Glasgow stank of some agent wanting signing on fees and brown envelopes by making the move to Rovers, then back for a similar fee. I think McKay was the agent's name, the same guy who got that player to board the dodgy plane to Cardiff.

Wagner - no

Out of interest, why would you have Wagner as a no.

His record in the UK stands up to far more scrutiny than many others mentioned. Did very well at Huddersfield. Yes he got sacked when they were bottom of the Prem but got them up and kept them up for a season.

Got sacked for after taking over a mid-table Norwich and getting them in the play offs the following season.

Mis-step at Schalke during the closed doors COVD period, but they ended up going down after he left. He'd be my preferred pick from the list.
