American Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I'm going with 2 seasons ago: we lose or draw when we are supposed to win and win when we are supposed to lose. 2-1 Rovers, Dickov and Emerton for us, Ljundberg for them.
1864roverite Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 heaven help us. anyone know who the ref is ? !!
vyeo Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 heaven help us. anyone know who the ref is ? !! fingers crossed... uriah rennie?
Jammy Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Travelling down from Lancashire for the game (and a bit of work), but after today's game, we haven't a hope in hell, the refereeing comittee at the FA will have already decided!!! all I can say is "COME ON ROVERS", stuff it up em!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 2-0 Arsenal....without breaking sweat as expected.
Jan Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Arsenal will win by as many as they want to win by. If it's not too warm and they're in good moods, it'll probably be about 10-0 but if they get bored and decide not to run around too much, we might hold it to about 4-0
Tango Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Defeat, but only just. I'm really hoping we raise our game for this one and push them all the way - saying that, if the defence plays like it has since the second game of last season, we'll go down by several.
RoverDrake Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Arsenal 1 Rovers 2 Believe it. Rovers will play quite badly but have their moments and grab a winner between the 75th-83rd minute. ~My team would be~ Enckelman Neill Amoruso Short Gray Emerton Tugay Bazza De Pedro Yorke Dickov ===== Friedel Stead Nissa Gresko Thompson
krislu Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 (edited) With the starting line-up looking something like this Friedel Neill Amoruso Short Gray Matteo Flitcroft Ferguson Tugay Gresko Stead it might just be right Arsenal 1 Rovers 0 Edited August 21, 2004 by krislu
Shevchenko Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 You think a starting line up like that will keep Arsenal from scoring more than just the one then? You must be nuts.... I think Arsenal will take their foot off the pedal when they reach 4...so, 4-0 Arsenal.
Scotty Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I'm sure we'll get tonked at Arsenal so perhaps it's more interesting to predict how many players Souness will play out of position. I'll go for 5!
rog of the rovers Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Arsenal will score 2 early goals then ease off in the meantime Steadinho will score and we will boss the last 10-15 mins and come away thinking of what it might have been. Arsenal 2 - Henry, Reyes Rovers 1 - Stead
SAS Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 5-0 to arsenal. Henry gets 5 penalties for tripping up on his shoelaces. amazingly this happens for all 5 goals.
Tom Pringle Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I'm sure we'll get tonked at Arsenal so perhaps it's more interesting to predict how many players Souness will play out of position. I'll go for 5! I prefer that game! I'll go....4
Lathund Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 (edited) Ljundberg Not directed at you specifically, just seeing this misspelling over and over again. It's a G goddamnit! As for the game.. really can't see us winning. If Southampton could make our defense look so disorganised, then imagine what Henry, Bergkamp and Pires can do... Although we could snatch a draw if we play a sensible, balanced formation. But 3-1 Arsenal. Henry x2, Pires and Dickov with the goals. Edited August 22, 2004 by Lathund
vyeo Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 watching arsenal tear boro apart now. sad. very sad. just hope we manage to pull something out of our hat and keep it to a respectable score on wednesday night...
herbergeehh Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Would like to see the combination Amo/Matteo against Arsenal, with Neill and Gray on each side. If Ferguson is suspended, I'm afraid we'll need Flitty in the middle alongside Tugay, with Emerton and perhaps De Pedro or Thompson on each side. We also need Dickov instead of Yorke for this one IMO, he's a dirty little @#/? and can disrupt alot in Arsenal's back four !
Tom Pringle Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 (edited) Speaking of Arsenal - Boro Bloody hell Jimmy Floyd! edit: Just thought, Reyes vs. Emerton and Neill We're so screwed. Edited August 22, 2004 by Tom Pringle
greggyk Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Will campbell be back for the match? Because as Boro have proved today, its easy to get at Cygan. Although, im sure looking at yesterdays performance, they must feel the same looking at nissa and short
vyeo Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Speaking of Arsenal - Boro Bloody hell Jimmy Floyd! edit: Just thought, Reyes vs. Emerton and Neill We're so screwed. what about henry and reyes vs any from short, amo, matteo, nils?
1864roverite Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I have studied very closely the formation that Arsenal employ, its hard to see anywhere and what tactics could be employed to either frustrate them or even beat them. I have however some suggestions that may "rattle" the Arse! 1. Make them kick towards the North Bank first half. 2. Employ a 5 man midfield, leaving one attacker alone. 3. Rovers must deploy 2 wide midfielders which will restric tthe movement of Reyes and Bergkamp/Pires. Team Freidel Neill Matteo Johanssen Short Gray Fergie (if allowed to play) or Flitcroft Emerton Stead Gresko Tugay its either that or just go there with an intention of getting a draw and that means a team devoid of attacking players ! Does anyone remember the Alamo ??
Quack Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 (edited) I would go with a 5 man midfield. still think we will do well to escape with a 3-1 defeat, they will be fired up to beat Forest's record. Edited August 22, 2004 by Quack
Blue and White Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Arsenal 1-2 Rovers Brad with the winner at the end to stop the Gunner's record-braking party. C'MON ROVERS !!!!!!!
