blue/white Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I'd like to echo those congratulations! Good times to be a Rovers' supporter, may Sparky's tenure continue for many a year. (knowing fully well that's not to be ) On the other side of the coin, lets' not forget that Jonny Stead also factored in the U21 as a Rover and look where's that's gone.
gazsimm Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 he deserves it as well Bentley for England will be the new shout now lol
frosty Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Well done David! Im pretty sure he's played for the under 21s before though, correct me if i'm wrong!
rover6 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Yeah, I think he has. I mean any English player that gets anywhere near the Gunners' first team usually goes straight into the next U21 squad.
ihtd Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 He played versus Holland when the Under 21's played at the K.C. Stadium in Hull. I was there with me living there, he scored a screamer from about 30+ yards out.
Bing Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I remember watching that match and whilst I was pleased to see Stead doing ok, I couldn't help but think "he's nowhere near the level of that Bentley lad - he's gonna be some player."
Presty On Tour Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 well done to the lad, since he's signed for us on a permanent deal things have gone rosey for the boy. hat-rick against manky, england u21 call up, what next?? hopefully the winner against his former club happy days
Cheshireblue Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 The under 21's have some excellent players in there at the moment. The young centre half Taylor from Newcastle, who is injured at the moment, is quite superb. Aaron Lennon from Spurs is also very good as is the younger Ferdinand.
Presty On Tour Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 lennon from spurs is mega fast, my tottenham buddy certainly rates him and as he plays on the left he thinks there is an outside chance of him going to the world cup this summer
Bing Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Lennon is apparently homesick and looking for a move back up North.
herbergeehh Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Would've been a fantastic (!) signing, but highly unlikely- with United interested..
Ricky Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 Just noticed that Bentley is only 19.. he seems to have been around for a while. Thought he was a little older
Eddie Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 (edited) Bentley is 21 isn't he? Also, doesn't Lennon play on the right? Edited February 24, 2006 by Eddie
bob fleming Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Lennon wanting a move back north. ~Imagine. 386246 I am doing, But I'm not the only one. I hope some day he'll join us.
OJRovers Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I rate Lennon, but am not convinced by Ferdinand Jnr - he was at fault for a couple of the goals against us in the league at ewood and may be good in the future but now is just getting hyped-up because he's Rio's brother. BTW - how many relations does rio seem to have Im sure there;s about 10 of his 'cousins' or uncles playing the lower leagues.
Presty On Tour Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Bentley is 21 isn't he? Also, doesn't Lennon play on the right? 386244 i thought bentley was 21 too. as for lennon he can play anywhere in midfield though i have only seen him play on the left and right hand side of midfield for spurs so far.

Seriously though, Pardew wouldn't sell him for 15 million pounds, so I guess he's got to have some class..
BRFC4EVA Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Bentley has got 2 goals for the eng u21's so far tonight, as they lead 3-0! Good news
