Apart from the HUGE segregation is the corners of the Darwen End on either side and the last sections of both the JW stand AND the Riverside, AND the empty seats scattered around the place.

But yes, apart from those areas, not a spare seat left in the house.

Realistically to class it as a sell ouyt it must be is the region of 30,800.

I think the highest official attendance at the modern Ewood was 30,900 on the famous V.E Day - which if im correctly informed was a complete sell out (sold out signs on the ticket office and everything!!!!)

VE Day was 30,500 or so, and I think there has been two higher, Liverpool the following year would be one of them, maybe Newcastle in 96 as well?

The highest crowd at the modern Ewood Park was in the 95-96 season against Liverpool. It was 30,895 and that was a sell out. Other high crowds the previous season and that season were around the 30,500 mark for manu, bolton, n'castle, spurs etc.

Against Burnley, i think capasity was limited to 28,800 and there was 28,691 on.

Here are the top ten crowds as I can find them since the 94/95 season:

1) Liverpool 24/2/96 30,895

2) Newcastle 8/5/95 30,545

3) Fulham 11/5/02 30,487

4) Man Utd 22/12/02 30,475

5) Man Utd 12/5/99 30,436

6) Bolton 3/2/96 30,419

7) Newcastle 26/12/96 30,398

8) Man Utd 23/10/94 30,260

9) Liverpool 13/9/03 30,074

10) Tottenham 30/12/95 30,004

(EDIT:FOUND A MATCH V NEWCASTLE 30,717 8/4/96 2nd highest)

Of these crowds, 20 of the top five and 3 of the top 10 have come within the last4 years.Also,3 of the top five are the last home match of the season.Just for yucks and grins, here is the second ten again as i could find it:

11) Newcastle 31/1/00 29,946

12) Man city 7/5/00 29,913

13) Arsenal 15/3/03 29,840

14) Man Utd 22/8/01 29,836

15) Arsenal 27/4/96 29,834

16) Celtic 14/11/02 29,698

17) Man Utd 1/5/04 29,616

18) Newcastle 26/12/04 29,271

19) Liverpool 28/8/02 29,207

20) Man Utd 22/1/03 29,048

EDIT MAN UTD 28/9/95 29,843

I'm sure there are holes in these number(meaning some games I've overlooked have a greater attendance than these listed).does anyone know if the club has an official list of the top attended matches?

I was shocked that so many of the second ten are in this decade and not the previous one.

Can't see us winning. MGP is due a good performance though - I can see him scoring. If the defence is tight we have a good shout, but it looks unlikely given recent performances.

It wasn't cheaper tickets, but the final day of the season which traditionally brings in large crowds (Or used to, along with the opening day, boxing day and the easter bank holiday game). Rovers were bang in form at the end of a cup winning season with Duff, Dunn, Jansen and Cole all playing some magical stuff.

Explained.

And the cheaper tickets had nothing to do with it right?

In 2002 we had a 26,000 average gate and ticket discounts produced above average crowds.

In 2006 we have a 20,000 average crowd and ticket discounts have not produced an above average crowd in any of the four games they have been tried in.

I don't understand it either.

It was four years ago, I can't remember if it was bloody cheaper tickets or not, but I would imagine it was priced as what we would now call ''Catagory B'' prices.

The cheaper tickets haven't worked this season, so I wish people would stop going on about it.

The Blackburn public don't deserve cheap tickets, why don't they stop acting like dossers and get to the games anyway, but just don't buy a pie and a pint when they get there.

The quid a kid game the other week worked with an extra 2,000 or so.

I understand it brings next to nothing money wise, but to have so many "extra" young bums on seats has to be the way forward.

So you can't remember but you still feel qualified to rant on about why the attendance was so high? Well to help you out it wasn't category B it was £5. Don't let facts get in the way of your rants though, you don't usually.

P1llock.

The more i hear of you, the more i dislike your pretentious attitude towards other members of this board. wink.gif

I`d absolutely love to see you state your case for 'non attendance' to a married man, wife, 3 kids, mortgage, bills, & an average income....& see how long your face looks like it does now.

You sir, are a complete Arsenal* of the highest order!

(* note...changed to similar sounding word)

At the end of the day...

2004-2005: 22,315 (Premier League)

2003-2004: 24,376 (Premier League)

2002-2003: 26,226 (Premier League)

Those are our average attendences over those seasons. This season it's around the 20,000 mark, possibly a little under. Ticket prices have dropped dramatically in this period, and if the 6000 plus who have all gone missing can give the reason as being because they have got married, had a kid or purchased a mortgage, then fair enough.

If people are offended about the bluntness of my opinion then fair enough. I'd have much more respect if somebody said ''I don't go to the games because I can't be arsed, I'd rather spend my money on a new cd and a dvd and watch the extended highlights later on,'' rather than this constant regeime to try and get our already rediculously (in comparision) prices even lower.

Who the hell are you to decide how people spend their hard earned money? huh.gif

It`s got absolutely eff-all to do with you!

How people spend their money is their business....not yours. If they don`t feel they can be arsed or don`t feel they get value for money, it is totally up to them.IT`S THEIR MONEY!!!!

....But it`s you who`s coming on this site, being all mightier than thou & slagging them off, when you`ve no idea what goes on in people`s personal lives. It`s not just this topic either. I`ve seen you slag off the people of Glasgow, slag off BRFC`s lost fans & you`ve called members of this board things like 'cretin' in the past.

All in all, you come across as a bit of a pr1ck.

(BTW...i do realise i`ve contradicted myself by calling you a pr1ck, but i just cannot abide with people like you)

I feel much better now thumbs-up.gif
