It would be great news if true. I do feel from his comments at the end of the season that he felt that he still had more to offer then he got chance too this year. Yes, his legs have gone but a fresh pair of Tugay legs in the 75th minute when we are at 1.1 doesn't hurt does it :rover:

According to Star & Express - Villa are now after Bentley.

And star also rumouring that Villa have already had a £15m offer rejected. Any news on that nicko??

Its one thing selling him to Man U or Chelski but to sell him to someone who are on the same level as us would be mental.

I really think we have to strap ourselves in for a summer of "no he isnt for sale" comments every week like we did for Benni and Ped. Which is no bad news especially when it disguises us doing our real work and signing a top player without anyone realising because they have been too busy wondering what we are doing with Bentley.

Bentley will love all the attention but unlike Benni I do feel he will not let it affect him the same.

The story is true, but I would say that...

Tugay has been offered a one year deal and the chance to get involved in coaching. The only hold-up is that it is a low wage with money for appearances.

However I don't think he will get a better financial deal anywhere else, so in the end I suspect he will sign.

Villa don't offer that kind of cash and would struggle to pay his wages.

He thinks Chelsea want him - I don't think he will be dreaming of Villa somehow.

It could never be any other way. Coaching? Does that mean rewarding him further for making inroads in his homeland by turning himself into an agent / scout of sorts and attracting young Turkish prospects? It would be sensible.

btw Alan..... what is your definition of the word 'low' in relation to Prem footballers wages? Are we talking below national average wages or below the Blackburn average? Put another way will Tugay now have to experience 'absolute poverty' or 'relative poverty'...... or will he just have to spend less time in the casino?

Nicko - who is your money on for Euro 2008?

I'm just wondering who you've got - then I can avoid backing them ;)

Just talking about that last night. I want to see the first games before picking a winner.

Talking about it after counting my Zenit winnings... ;)

If Barry goes they will have the cash and available wages. And they have a history of offering big money for English players in Ashley Young.

But would Bentley fancy a move that is largely sideways? And where would he fit in at Villa. They already have Young and Ablanghor down that right side. I guess he would be a supporting striker?

Can't really see it unless they could convince Bentley they were going go really close to the CL.

I agree

Villa may have made the Uefa Cup, but i really don't see much between ourselves and them. It would be a sideways step in my opinion not a forward one.

If Bents is going to leave it will be for a champions league club In my opinion.

IMO Bentley might well be a disaster waiting to happen! Even though I would very much like him to stay (if he is a 100% commited) the boy has quite a big ego. A big money move down to London wont do his football career any good.

News here report that Atletico Madrid want Lucho Gonzales from FC Porto and Diego from Werder Bremen. Their release clause is 25 million € and 30 million €, respectively.

So, they will have to sell players and, most likely, midfielders.

One that might is most likely to leave is Maniche. He is in Inter Milan on loan.

Maybe Luiz Garcia...

It seems Fiorentina want Maniche. tough competition.

Liverpool are offering a heavily player weighted deal, so they wouldn't gain much in the way of cash to spend.

Bentley's wages would be higher than anyone they currently have on their books.

I can't think of that many english players they have bought recently at high prices, apart from Young who has been good value and should look to move onwards and upwards.

Edit: They did sign Harewood and Knight at awful prices! But they are looking at Sidwell Link
