Mr. E Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 There's not a single reason in the whole entire world why Stoke or Sunderland should have a penny to their name, yet this summer alone they've spent more money than what we've spent since we've been promoted.

Mattyblue Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 There's not a single reason in the whole entire world while Stoke or Sunderland should have a penny to their name, yet this summer alone they've spent more money than what we've spent since we've been promoted. Eh? Stoke owned by rich Bet365 owner. Sunderland owned by rich Irish Yank Ellis Short. Rovers...
Mr. E Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Eh? Stoke owned by rich Bet365 owner. Sunderland owned by rich Irish Yank Ellis Short. Rovers... Rovers? Owned still by some of the richest people in England. Who apparently do not have the slightest respect for Jack Walker's wishes.
S15 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Rovers? Owned still by some of the richest people in England. Who apparently do not have the slightest respect for Jack Walker's wishes. You mean the one where Rovers become self sustainable? Now shut up.
Dan Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Rovers? Owned still by some of the richest people in England. Who apparently do not have the slightest respect for Jack Walker's wishes. Don't open up that can of worms Mr.E
den Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 You mean the one where Rovers become self sustainable? No, he means the one where they are licensed to carry out JW's wishes. You don't know what they are any more than I do. Good guess that it wouldn't be this scenario though.
S15 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Well of the very few long term wishes Jack Walker made public, the one i mentioned certainly stands out.
ffan Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Now then - Spanish publication Marca, who tend to have their finger firmly on the pulse of all things Real Madrid, are reporting that Tottenham have indeed signed Rafael Van der Vaart. And STILL the Spurs media team are unreachable. Have Harry Redknapp and Daniel Levy really pulled a rabbit out of the hat at the death?
S15 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Van Der Vaart? Is he that guy who's not gotten into the Madrid team or his national team over the past two years?
BuckyRover Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 It's strange for Sky to act this way. If he is coming to the "BEST LEAGUE ON EARTH", it surely isn't a big deal?
John Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Interesting to see Hughes and Fulham remained strongy by not selling Schwarzer.
Hughesy Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Looks like it could be true........ BBC - 1953: Those Harry Redknapp quotes for you, then: "It (The Rafael van der Vaart deal) is still dragging on. We have been trying to do something but we are waiting to see if it has all gone through and we are hoping it has. It's something to do with clearance. I think he was going to Bayern Munich yesterday for £18m and suddenly he became much cheaper. They let me know around 1600 BST that he was available for £8m and for that money he is a top player who will definitely improve us. The fee has come crashing down because the deadline is so close. He's a great passer of the ball, he's a top footballer, he will join in here and be a big plus for us."
John Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Aston Villa have compiled a five-man shortlist as they strive to identify Martin O'Neill's successor. It includes Kevin MacDonald, currently serving as caretaker manager, who today confirmed he wanted a chance to fill the post created by O'Neill's shock resignation Sam Allardyce, currently impressing in charge of Blackburn Rovers, could be another potential candidate, but his reputation was damaged by a previous disappointing stint at Newcastle United, and his football philosophy remains an acquired taste.

Oh how the tide has turned! You mean the one where Rovers become self sustainable? Now shut up. Why so rude always?
thenodrog Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Oh how the tide has turned! Why so rude always? You call that rude? I could be a lot ruder with the chump.
Iceman Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 So Bayern were going to sign Van Der Vaart for 18mill, but Madrid would rather take 8mill instead. Shows just how much Madrid rate Spurs, as a threat in the Champions league.
budha Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Re. VDV:-The documentation arrived at Premier League HQ at 06.10 hrs. i.e. too late Premier League says it’s not OK Spurs make a complaint to FIFA who states that if the transfer deadline in Spain is at 12.00 hrs then the transfer is valid. Premier League will solve the matter tomorrow FIFA’s verdict overrides any verdict that FA and Premier League makes. From the owner? of the Spurs fansite SpursOdyssey. Wanna bet it goes through? Makes a nice precedent for signing players from leagues where transfer windows are not exactly same than in England. Edit: for example the Swedish window is open from the start of January to the end of March.

Edit: for example the Swedish window is open from the start of January to the end of March. If that quote is correct, then the entire transfer window system in this country is bound to be extended to when the others close their windows... That would surely make it 11pm here rather than 6. I reckon this will go through and set a precedent.
Hughesy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 So as usual Spurs do a dodgy deal after the deadline and no doubt the premier league & FA allow them to get away with it! Wonder what would happen if it was little old Blackburn
budha Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The Premier League are understood to be investigating what Spurs claim were difficulties involving computer servers used in the £8million transaction between themselves and Real, which hindered their attempts to submit the relevant paperwork on time. http://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/6351940/Van-der-Vaart-deal-delay-probed Right.
LeChuck Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I hope Spurs do sign Van der Vaart. He's not made for the Premier League at all, they'll probably just upset one of their best players (Modric) by trying to accommodate him and end up being worse off. I wonder where it would leave Kranjcar as well? Typical 'Arry, his eyes are too big for his belly.
American Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It is so typically English to close the window at 6 so people don't have to work overtime....
