The root cause of these issues in my opinion is the fundamental lack of respect we currently have in society driven by the individualistic 'as long as your happy' materialistic culture!

Success is measured by the size of the plasma on your wall; whereas 50/60 years ago, success was respect and integrity..

Break down of traditional family values in turn for selfish individual whims as well as a clear lack of discipline in schools has caused this issue..

The solution in my opinion is a fundamental look and review of how we are currently brain washing our population the primary mechanism beung the television.. And also to look at the way we enforce discipline both in the judicial system and more importantly the schools...

I find it embarrassing that the Arabs rioted for freedom from suppression of puppet leaders yet our people are rioting for a mobile phone or plasma tv!!

There has been some protesting in this country recently. Student protests, protest about the financial cuts and now the past few days. The cause is only a lack of parental and self discipline. Failure to face reality. Nobody complained when people were able to buy and buy on the never never. (The protests about the financial cuts is a different subject, as this was at least peaceful)

Parents / teachers not able to discipline children anymore. So kids grow up knowing they will always get away with what ever they do. Then you have the human rights people, who made things worse, not better. People wanting things for free and not wanting to do any form of work. Human pride, people not willing to humble themselves and do any job. I knew a bloke years ago lost a good job. Was offered a job on the dustcarts. But considered himself to good for such a job. That bloke has never worked since. Tax payers now pay everything for him, home, council tax etc etc. Yet he is not alone, there are many like that. To make things worse many today except that as the norm.

As things stand today, to get things back to how they should be. I would bring back National service for a minimum of two years. In the hope that individual discipline can be encouraged. Schools nor parents can do it. Jail just makes people better criminals. What other options is there??????

Never mind. Those that get arrested and brought before the courts will get bound over to keep the peace for twelve months.

That sentence should deter others from doing the like in the future.

Ok now it's pissing me off. I have no ties to London, but I bloody love Manchester.

This really is just an excuse to loot and set things on fire isn't it? Unleash the hounds.

I'm raging.

I heard someone on the BBC talking about how the police chief said they will approach it; they've got CCTV all over the place and will be watching everyone, if anyone is involved in looting they'll come after them. Words to the same effect on the GM Police Twitter feed.

Basically they're going to sit back and let them run riot, then try and prosecute them afterwards. Like that's going to deter anyone. Gutless. :angry2:

Its not gutless, unfortunately its the way the police have to work these days thanks to incompetent governments and an even more incompetent judicial system.

The Police will gather the evidence first, arrest and then charge, it makes more sense having the evidence first to prevent offenders being bailed for ages until such time they are charged. It will also ensure the matters are dealt with accordingly.

if you can suggest an alternative then email the head shed at number 10, Unfortunately, due to the pc brigades actions this country is reaping what has sown over the past 14 years or so. A softly softly approach has yeilded the contempt and a lack of respect that is so clearly obvious.

Cameron needs to regain control of events quickly, or risk forever having his premiership, like Thatcher with the burning streets of Toxteth and the poll tax riots, illustrated by images of burning furniture stores and disaffected youth running around looting in feral gangs. Parliament has not been recalled for nine years, but Cameron has found himself being forced to recall politicians for emergency sessions two times in two months – first for the phone-hacking scandal and now the breakdown of law and order. Many will see this as a defining moment when the public-school elite ("we're all in this together") running Britain lost touch with the country.

From bbc

"while 32 people have appeared in court charged with offences such as burglary and criminal damage during the previous riots. Among them were a graphic designer, college students, a youth worker, a university graduate and a man signed up to join the army. "

A graphic designer earns appx 30-40kpa, a youth worker who should be setting an example for young people, also a well paid job. And someone due to join hmaf.

So from your theorys phil, the government is to blame for making us skint, yet 3 examples above are people in either very well paid jobs and/or highly respected jobs.

What reason could someone earning 35 grand a year have to loot??

I think Sambo lad you need to be watching the bbc for live news. FAcebook is reporting incidents of shooting and fires in Preston but there is nothing being reported by any media outlet and neither does blackbirn get a mention.

facebook is a feature used simply by weirdos, nerds and freaks who are not in the real world.

Big citys will get much more exposure than blackburn.

However yes its only rumors at this point, cant hear many sirens going off either

I was before but sister has something else on tele and watching Leeds on my laptop! Hadn't heard Blackburn mentioned but I had off the odd friend, but they were properly passing on false information.

And as for the second point, how pointless. Some people are, however I use it to keep in touch with friends whilst I'm at university and can't see much. Every one I know has an account. I do hope you aren't suggesting every person I know is a weirdo/nerd/freak.

Some people are so out of touch sometimes.

Anyway, for those wondering why the police haven't waded in yet should read some of gadget's stuff (serving OB that has been blogging for a long time on what it's really like).

People, can I make it clear that I do not think everyone who uses faceook is a neerd freak or wierdo. The point I was making is that it is a feature used by these types of people (s well as students lazy bone idle feckeers that they are) and normal people

You did say 'used simply by weirdos'! Pretty much anything is used by weirdos amongst ordinary folk, just the way the world is.

And I may be a lazy bone idle fecker, but why not?

Going to post a few things from the MEN live blog this evening. Every news item you see is just full of scallies. A lot of people have been refusing to accept these people as a problem, even ridiculously saying it's class snobbery. There is a huge problem in that generation of people, spend any time walking around any town/city in this country and you'll see the scumbags everywhere.

Just heard a woman on the news calling them 'feral rats'. Good description.

SteveRobsonMEN:

Guy just walked past me and said to his mates 'this is a sick night out'

SteveRobsonMEN:

Children who appeared as young as 8 with TVs and laptops under their arms

pbainbridgeMEN:

4 youths striding down DGate, one drinking from large bottle of vodka. Two with chunky dogs

Can't be bothered posting anymore. Absolutely disgusted.

These F*****G Kids now sorting out properly! They are wrecking Manchester for no reason at all,

Where are these kids parents in all of this? they probably don't give a toss really.

I was suppose to go to Manchester tonight for tea. was going to go to Buffet City. But we ddn't bother to go incase our cars got wreck or broken into.

All these kids need to learn to bloody respect for things. Should put them into a boot camp with Andy McNab and the army. Wouldn't mess with him would they???

You only have to watch the reports and hear the accounts to realise that this is nothing more than opportunistic thievery. Only in this country could kids wearing £100+ trainers and hoodies, and using £300+ smartphones to organise smash and grab raids be excused by poverty.

It's the only way the liberal left can explain it.

They can't face up to the fact that many in this country have lost all vestiges of respect and are just immoral and selfish scum. The policies of liberal Britain have failed.

Getting a few rumours about Blackburn on Facebook too... Unconfirmed

The more people who post on Facebook and Twitter about it, the more chance there is of something happening as people gather round to have a look.

Avoid the self-fulfilling prophesy syndrome by not contributing!

Ok you want to politisise this. ... once again city centre riots happen on the Tory watch! ... Not clever is it? Truth is these 'selfish scum' are at the other end of the spectrum from socialist principles. I wonder were they got the idea to look after number one at the expense of the wider community?
