DeadlyDirk Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Says it all really - IMO, the Kean effect: sportingintelligence@sportingintel #brfc average crowd in second tier 99-00 was 19,253 (lowest 15,671) and in 00-01 average 20,740 (lowest 16,397). All higher than last night That really does say it all, I didn't realise the other times in the second tier was quite so low, will be interesting to see the attendance for the first home game on the weekend when we play Leicester.

Rover_Shaun Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 The 1992 promotion season average was 13250 and that was after 30 years of 5-8000 gates and only £4.50 for a ticket
Ossydave Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Leicester will bring a decent following I imagine, a lot more than Hull mustered up, not that we are in a position to question other teams support mind....
rovers1993 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Until Kean is gone, no matter what we achieve the club will not move forward. Short-Medium or Long term as Shebby likes to put it. Nothing will move forward. Only back.
Alan75 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 12500 Rovers fans says it all. You despots have ruined the clubs own fans base. KEANSCUM OUT. Sacking KEANSCUM would put 5000 extra bums on seats on Saturday. People are a creature of habbit, once they find something else to do on a Saturday or Wednesday night the chances to them automatically returning to Ewood is remote. I fear that it will now take more than a sacking will bring back fans.

JimFryatt Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Ewood with the Riverside condemned wasn't licensed to hold many more in those days. I think the Riverside had been rebuilt by 1992 had it not?

Much better than watching an old friend pressing the self destruct button.
Mike Graham Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 People are a creature of habbit, once they find something else to do on a Saturday or Wednesday night the chances to them automatically returning to Ewood is remote. Yep, I was painting the extension and listened to the game on R5.
Rover_Shaun Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I think the Riverside had been rebuilt by 1992 had it not? You are correct. The old riverside ws raised to the ground in 88 then the roof rebuilt along with a small family stand area, then it was all seated circa 1990
thenodrog Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I think the Riverside had been rebuilt by 1992 had it not? Quite right, my mistake Jim. It was the staggered ground developments the season we came up that was confusing me. I can still rem the irony of the Everton fans taunting us with chants of 'schitty ground'.
Grez Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I had an epiphany whilst driving today: Life is short and you shouldn't let anyone stand in the way of something you love. So... Call me a sell-out, weak or whatever. I have renewed my season ticket for tomorrows game. I have every support for everyone who is still boycotting... I just want to watch rovers and I've decided to ignore the buffoon in the dugout. Coyb
Blueboy Downunder Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 i think most on here agree that the signing of rhodes is an excellent one for us. and there is no doubt that this is a big statement from our hapless owners. but i just want to say that should we go on to start having a cracking season, then all of those folks whom said they would not return with kean as manager etc etc.....please stay strong and stay away no matter who we sign, because should most of you decide to renew or start coming to home games again, then us fans are gonna look like a bunch of hypocrites, that didnt have the bolloks to stay true to their word and it will be a massive victory for team 'convicted drink driver'. "STAY STRONG"

"STAY STRONG" No need to worry on my account BDU.......I made my decision over 12 months ago, and the only thing that will persuade me to return is when I feel the time is right, and that aint gonna happen until Kean is history as a starting factor. The rest is subject to day by day inspection and judgement. But I will not absolutely rule out a return providing the owners have fully convinced me that their intentions (and actions) are strictly honorable and truly in the best interests of Blackburn Rovers rather than Venkys Ltd.

47er Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 An £8M gimmick designed to increase attendances and to convince us the owners really mean business. Spectacular single signings, even if they work, will never make up for the damage done by these morons. For every goal Rhodes scores,Dann will let one in. Looking forward to the model railway exhibition on Sunday in Accrington.£7 and fun!

"STAY STRONG" Even if we played burnley in the play off final at Wembley I'd not come back, not until that rat has gone. Rhodes is also unproven, the jury is out on him for now.

Bah Humbug Even if we played burnley in the play off final at Wembley I'd not come back, not until that rat has gone. Rhodes is also unproven, the jury is out on him for now. More Crap, Rhodes unproven, you are having a laugh.
Gav Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 More Crap, Rhodes unproven, you are having a laugh. Do enlighten me pete, how has Rhodes proven himself?
EgyptianPete Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Do enlighten me pete, how has Rhodes proven himself? We will all be enlightened by the goals he scores this season, already 2 in 2 and one on his full debut with Scotland, he's no dummy. Hey I just get peed off with all the negativity surrounding our team, We all want Coco gone, but at least give Jordan Rhodes some credit or encouragement, comments such as the jury is out really bugs me especially when it comes from "rovers fans" who don't even go.

So you can't enlighten us then Pete, well neither can I, thats why the juries out, and your little dig at "rovers fans" who don't go does you no favours either, because lets face it, I've probably seen Rhodes as many times as you and I don't go
Mattyblue Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Of course the jury is out on Rhodes. £8million on a lad who's hardly played a game outside the third and fourth tiers. He looks a goalscorer all right and look at Matt Jansen for our own example, but it's still a risk.
braddock Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Of course the jury is out on Rhodes. £8million on a lad who's hardly played a game outside the third and fourth tiers. Indeed. Hopefully the jury will be unbiased though and wait for all evidence to be provided before making their decision. You don't always get that around here.
Gav Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Indeed. Hopefully the jury will be unbiased though and wait for all evidence to be provided before making their decision. You don't always get that around here. The jury on here makes not the slightest bit of difference, a bit like most of your posts braddock He'll be judged on match days, we all hope he does well.
gumboots Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Indeed Alan.. I'm quite enjoying my alternative Saturday lifestyle. Much better than watching an old friend pressing the self destruct button. Enjoying my Saturdays too. Remembered what supporting your team should feel like when i watched Lorient Montpellier at the Moustoir a couple of weeks ago too. Lorient a goal down and being soundly beaten in terms of chances by Montpellier. 90th minute equaliser for Lorient and then incredibly a 93rd minute winner from Alliadiere. the whole ground rose as one to celebrate apart from the poor little group of about 30 Montpellier fans. Players manager and fans all celebrating together. That's how it should feel. I won't be back at Rovers until there's a t least a chance of that
