TugaysMarlboro
How many do you think he'd score in this team ? Not very many. But that's not the point I was getting at. From the way I read the post, it came across as though taking some striking lessons from Andy Cole is a bad thing. When he was clearly a brilliant player. bellamy11
Oh lord, finishing lessons from Andy Cole http://www.thesun.co...-Andy-Cole.html “If he scores 25 to 30 goals this season and gets us promoted, as I think he can, then he could easily be worth £15m, £17m or £18m." Expect Rhodes to be sold in the summer for £16m.
RibbleValleyRover
Very early days yet but if you go off today's game he's not going to score anywhere near 20-30 goals, he had no service whatsoever. Will Kean change the system to get the best out of him? I have my doubts.
Backroom Tom Posted September 1, 2012 Backroom Share Posted September 1, 2012 He'll score the goals when we get a manager with a clue how to set teams up
philipl
The issue here is, what happens first? Rhodes completely loses his confidence because he is playing in a set-up which doesn't give him a cat in hell's chance? Kean gets sacked? Balaji, it's your inheritance on the line apparently.... callumrovers
He only signed on Thursday. Not even a week with Rovers yet. Give the lad chance to get use to his team mates and are style of play and i guarantee he will start banging the goals in.

Look at his goals for Huddersfield and you will see that they a completely different system from the rank shambolic screw up Kean employs. He will not score as many goals until the idiot Kean is sacked.

Agreed, Kean has very little idea, I know I have asked this before, but has Kean really got his pro license or is it one of those 'bought ones'!! Stuart
I thought Shearer's first away match was a draw? 3-3 at Palace wasn't it 92er? . Very interesting... Surely lightning couldn't strike twice...? Nice to dream though.
philipl
Shearer scored two absolute belters in that 3-3 draw at Palace.

Joe_Cullen
Unless Rhodes has team set up around him he won;t score half as many. He will score don't get me wrong he is class, Huddersfield made sure he got service, we won't do the same under Kean.
Eddie
We didn't sign him to score 40 goals and in all honesty if we made that our aim we would harm our team. It's unlikely that Kean can get the best out of him, but if he wants to develop as a player he needs to learn how to be more than just a goalscorer. Today was encouraging and he clearly has the ability to be involved in play outside of the area.
Gav
Shearer scored two absolute belters in that 3-3 draw at Palace. Both could have been goals of the season, wonderful strikes. Rhodes needs time to settle in, he isn't a Shearer I'm sure of that, but Kean needs to play to his strenghts, sadly Kean won't know what his strenghts are, so we're goosed! Kamy100
Kean needs to build the team to maximise Rhodes strengths, but this is Kean we're talking about and therefore he won't be able to do that and Rhodes will be wasted.
Joe_Cullen
Rhodes will be just an average striker under Kean. Really worries me, people over hyped this move for me, I'd of rather had kean out than Rhodes in.
G Somerset Rover
Rhodes will be just an average striker under Kean. Really worries me, people over hyped this move for me, I'd of rather had kean out than Rhodes in. So would we all - but it obviously, for whatever reason, wasn't an option. Therefore Kean needs to find a way of feeding Rhodes.

RoyRover
We paid £8 million for Rhodes. Fulham paid £4 million for Berbatov. Puts things into perspective.
Joe_Cullen
We paid £8 million for Rhodes. Fulham paid £4 million for Berbatov. Puts things into perspective. Dreadful comparison. Did you take into account these, His age? His wages? The fact a lot of our fee is down to performance.
philipl
The £8m is not performance related. It is 100% contracted and has to be paid albeit over a rather long period. We pay the last instalment when Kean gets the chance to relegate us to Conference North... seriously that is how many seasons it is spread over. rossyrover
Rhodes will score plenty of goals of that I'm sure you cannot coach the strikers art you either have it or not Simon Garner did not score in every match and contributed little to the general play but when the chance came more than not the net bulged players like Berbatov would not come to the rovers and there wage demands would be excessive Rhodes has a point to prove and any player who can score 40 goals in season no matter what level of the professional game must have something.
