The 6 months thing is more idiocy. All it does is make the job less appealing, and what on earth is the point of doing that? Its not as if promotion is now a realistic thing to demand after they've let Berg blow a very large hole through this season, so if thats what an extended contract is based on then Shabby really is being a collossal twit.

What needs to be being put out there are encouraging things that make working for Venkys seem less of the infuriating experience than everyone in football no doubt assumes it is. So indicate a healthy January transfer budget, indicate a decent wage packet, indicate a huge bonus if the unlikely goal of promotion is achieved. DON'T start indicating its a case of success in 6 months or the new manager could well be out of a job.

Shebby is just so bad at all this its untrue.

I'm trying desperately to remember who we were linked to when we appointed Ince? Seem to think it was about the same standard of candidate?

Allardyce was all set until individuals started a stupid Facebook page. Probably the same morons that still think it was a good idea to sack him and get Martin Jol or Martin O'Neill. Neither of which are anywhere near as good as him.

Most of those individuals supported Kean for a while too, out of spite for Big Sam. They like the owners wanted more attractive football. The ironic part of course is O'Neill doesn't play attractive football.

Indeed, in fact there are plenty of managers that don't play attractive football. The difference is the media told fans that Sam doesn't play it, they never said anything about O'Neill and all the others. There's a heck of a lot of sheep out there.

I remember that - the debate started, with some saying appointing a novice would be foolish, and others thinking we could play the beautiful game and pick up points....

Indeed, there are a lot of sheep about that don`t seem to be able to think for themselves, they just follow what they think is the trend and take that as being Gospel. All sports are played to win, winning is everything this rubbish about attractive football is ridiculous, put it this way , if we played against the dingles tomorrow, would anyone on here prefer to see us play tippy tap football and lose say 6-0 or grind out a result and win 1-0. The biggest mistake made by the owners was getting rid of Sam.

Sean O’Driscoll strongly favoured as manager by sombody at ewood according to LT, to late to add another name to the poll?

His record isn't as good as I thought it was. At Bournemouth, Doncaster and Forest, his win percentages are 36%, 36% and 38%.

I know they don't tell the whole story, but to have failed to get above 40% at any club is quite poor.

He's better than Peter Taylor, but a worse choice than Davies or Eriksson for me.

I'd rather cut of a finger than lose 6-0 to the Dingles haha

Your right..it doesn't tell the whole story.... Got Bournemouth promoted to league 1... Went to Doncaster, won football league trophy and achieved promotion to Championship and managed to keep Doncaster up for the years he was there with easily the smallest budget in division.. And obviously looked to be doing a good job with Forest.

Would be a sensible appointment

Agree with your last statement to a point but think he needs to shut up and let things happen. In my opinion he had done the hard part in identifying the issues and encouraging Balaji to "give it a go". Shot himself in the foot with Berg and has lost the media war to such a degree that people aren't even mentioning agnew/shaw as problems anymore... If after the (correct) decision to remove berg he had simply stated "we are looking having learned from our mistakes in the way the last search/appointment was conducted" then the backlash would have been somewhat mitigated especially with 2 wins from 2!

Lets see... Allardyce v Ince.... same standard!? Kinell! One is a manager of experience who has amassed hundreds of Premier League points over many years of punching way above his weight whilst the other was a useless empty head who managed just 13 from 17 games before he was subject the managerial equivalent of a mercy killing.

What Venky's did to Sam was outragiously unfair, yes he played boring HOOOOF football, yes he was fairly boring to listen too, yes most interviews held with him he had a pie and a beer in his hand as he was in a pub. That football kept us in the league and led us to 10th.

Venky's made their own bed to lay in when they sacked him. Like it or not he's a fairly well respected manager amongst his peers. Then they got Kean and it took a while for Sam haters to learn Kean was awful. Some still think he was better than Sam.

We need to face facts we won't have a better manager than him in a very long time.

Just give it to Bowyer until the end of the season.

This seasons a write off, the past two years have been infact.

By giving it him until the end of the season then at least everyone knows where they stand. Promotionis currently looking unlikely. I'd rather the job be given (temporarily) to someone who:

Clearly cares for the club

Cares for the welfare of the players

Knows the club (as best as anyone can do under the current circumstances)

Has experience of managing a team of players - albeit a reserve team

The only person remotely close to the above is Gary Bowyer and Terry McPhillips combined. Let them have it for 6 months, get the players in a much better physical condition, then let them continue their respective jobs next season and we'll start again.

O please, shut up!

how many times are we going to here this, like there's not enough bickering and division amongst fans people still have to drag this old chestnut up.

Uncalled for that! There was nothing wrong about what he said, its the truth. People seem more upset everytime somebody mentions Allardyce. Why I'm not so sure, yet we are where we are, because of a stupid decision back then.

I wonder if the management appointment has been put off until February so that the new man doesn't have the stigma of having sold our best players in the transfer window.

Just a thought.

Ah yes the LET understands stuff again, so it could be true or it may just be hearsay or it might just be wishful thinking, journalists eh don't you just love em.

If Shebby told you himself, it might not be true either. Next time you want a link from someone, try another poster. Maybe he will be 100% accurate.
