Husky Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 So, is anyone going on holiday anywhere nice this year?

yoda Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 even a point against the league's bottom team and chaddy is salivating. We're heading for promotion don't ya all know. yep, 8 points behind with a game in hand, piece of cake, did you like that chaddy impersonation?
West Yorks Rover Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 3 draws in a row. Mid table. Stable yet uninspiring - which is my summing up of the season since for me (having faith long after many here had fallen) finally ends today. Could be positive and say we did well to show some spirit with 10 men blah blah and that the penalties were both dubious according to 'dubious' radio and that we are what we are; a solid mid-table team. Good grief you're right !! Forget ' Stability ' bring on 'Solidity'
chaddyrovers Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Stop quoting him! 2-2 against bottom of the league .. Stabilty rocks hail the venkys nobody has said hail Venkys. but you need stability before we can even think of promotion. we now have stability in the manager seat and Bowyer has built a good 15/16 man squad and next season we will be challenge for promotion IMO.

We've used about 30 players this season and never played the same team, how do you work that one out?
blue_n_white99 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Poor result looking at it before the game. but to be down to 10 men and coming back both times to score. good result in the context of the game. Too many good results in the context of the game that's why we are mid-table mediocrity.
Neal Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Wheelock saying if we'd have played like we did with 10 with 11 then we'd have won... Which sort of sums Bowyer up as a manger so far.... Go for it when it's almost too late. Don't care that we had a man sent off, that happens in football. Garbage result. 1 win in 7 now.
roverandout Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 for goodness sake chaddy just give it up, you are like a stuck record, 'stability', 'bowyer is doing a good job'. 'we was cheated' 'promotion next season' bla bla bla,
Backroom Tom Posted March 29, 2014 Backroom Posted March 29, 2014 I'm still not sure what this so called stability is Is it one manager for a year? Not great but not terrible results? No Venkys appearing? No protests? I really don't know Anyway we all knew we weren't going up it's just frustrating that this week we could have gone within touching distance of the play offs and spurned two good chances
RevidgeBlue Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Three points from the last three games when as it turned out there would still have been a chance to make a last gasp stab at the play offs. Extremely disappointing, much like the season since the turn of the year. We fielded a weakened side against Citeh in the Cup replay, got mullered and all the momentum fizzled out of us like a punctured balloon.
Stuart Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 we now have stability in the manager seatBy that logic, we had stability under Kean.
Riverside67 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Revidge no point getting too frustrated, Too many players are not good enough especially in the crucial area of midfield where the game is won and lost. Until Bowyer sorts that issue then we will remain a mediocre outfit.
Husky Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I think if you continually repeat the word 'stability' it's supposed to sink in and become believable. It's all a bit Tony Bliar and WMD's to me. But it worked on most people back then, so...................
bluebruce Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Stop quoting him! 2-2 against bottom of the league .. Stabilty rocks hail the venkys I'm quite sure somebody will tell me the same about you after this post
RevidgeBlue Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Agreed Riversider, specifically I don't think we'll ever progress with Lowe in central midfield, regardless of any other deficiencies in the side.
Backroom Silas Posted March 29, 2014 Backroom Posted March 29, 2014 how many pens against is that now this season? Site I just checked has us down as 8, 3rd place in Champ. I assume that hasn't been updated for today yet, so that would be 10 conceded, all away from home, and would put us 2nd behind Middlesbrough that have concede 11. And we have only been awarded 3. Compare that to a team like Derby that has been awarded 9 and only conceded 2. Makes a big difference in a League IMO.

We would have been better losing 1-2 at Ewood in the 95 min, everyone would have said, what a ' good effort ' by Blackburn, and all would have looked a lot better.

RevidgeBlue Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 WYR My point was more that by playing Campbell on his own up front at Citeh we effectively conceded the game before the off and have never recovered any form whatsoever since. We should have gone all out with a full strength line up and gone at it all guns blazing win or lose.

Our bank account wouldn't have looked better. That replay will have been worth hundreds of thousands.

It's all a bit Tony Bliar and WMD's to me. But it worked on most people back then, so................... It will sure work in terms of producing yet more empty seats nest season. Never mind, a tea party will more than compensate.
Bucksrover Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I think this season is all but finished, but I agree with Chaddy that if we stick with bowyer and he is allowed to keep this squad together then we have a good chance of going up next season. I think this messageboard as a place to discuss differing opinions also appears to be all but finished. If people like Chaddy try and focus on positives then Abbey and co jump in - spouting misery and hate. We are heading for a messageboard where the only message is 'venkyscum' - how diverse
Backroom Silas Posted March 29, 2014 Backroom Posted March 29, 2014 Maybe Derbys emphasis is too attack and ours is to defend ? True enough, I'm not claiming it's unlucky or arguing with the method, just sick of the result i.e. whistle blown time after time against us. It's miserable. Bournemouth who attack a lot too are 2nd in awards with 10 and have only conceded 3. But the biggest shocker is the lowest of the entire league for conceded is dirty Leeds with only one all season.
cesus Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I think we give away so many penalties due to the fact we stand off the opposition so much. If you think when we attack we build up slowly passing across the field or smashing the ball to Rhodes or Gestede at head height, very little chance of conceding a penalty from those scenarios as a defender just needs to go tight. When we defend we allow the opposition room, so at pace the ball can be taken past the defender and a clumsy challenge or contact will be punished. Never ever learn.

So I would have taken a narrow loss at Ewood and the plaudits.
