This lot really wind me up.

Chuck Blazer has now been banned from football for life; http://www.espnfc.co.uk/fifa-world-cup/story/2516880/fifa-bans-chuck-blazer-from-football-for-life

Why did they do this? He rolled over on them years ago. The FBI, not them, found that he was taking back handers, yet they ban him for it. I have nothing but utter contempt for FIFA.

Apparently "The ethics committee found Blazer guilty of violations of general rules of conduct, loyalty, confidentiality, duty of disclosure"

It reads that they were mad because he turned canary.

These sanctions are only as good as the authorities who impose them. Like apartheid, FIFA needs to be confined to the history books under the heading "bad old days".

About time too

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34363289

I bet he sings like a canary to protect his arse

If the Swiss have started an investigation then the FBI must have a treasure trove of info.

He won't sing, he's too far gone for that.

I reckon that Jack Warner has rolled over.

''Additionally, Mr. Joseph Blatter is suspected of a disloyal payment of CHF 2 Mio. to Michel Platini, President of Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), at the expense of FIFA, which was allegedly made for work performed between January 1999 and June 2002 ; this payment was executed in February 2011''

That looks dodgy for Platini too. I hope Michel got a late payment fee! ^_^

Somebody has rolled over, they only got access to Blatters office today so It would be extremely quick to find and check the reports about payments to Platini in 2011 unless they knew exactly what they where after.

The sad fact is Blatter obviously thought he was untouchable, otherwise surely given the other charges against others in FIFA, he would have disposed of evidence in the months in-between.

Sorry to go off thread but............Whose to stop us?

I'm not usually anti USA but those 4 words are feckin scary and why you lot are Septics in many peoples view. This from the country responsible for most of the world's historical financial crises.

I would agree that the USA are well placed to investigate corruption in financial matters - you've been responsible for most of the @#/? that's happened in Banking etc etc etc etc. Oh and who Polices the gun carrying Policemen?

Good training exercise in Rawanda or Dafur...........OMG............Sweet Jesus

Again apologies for going off thread.

I understand your being upset, sad thing is though it is true. Credit to the Yanks for actually doing something. How many years have we all suggested corruption without anything being done. All the while FIFA becoming more and brazen with more decisions that one, just using an odicum of commonsense, can see smack of corruption.

Football definately growing here. 10 years ago, outside of World Cup, one would be hard pressed to find a match on TV now it's quite prevalent wuth leagues from all over the world televised daily.

I believe Platini was deeply instrumental in the Russian win for 2018.

The Swiss action seems to be hitting two birds with one stone and could it be the start of an unravelling at UEFA as well?

If we keep in mind the current state of relations between Russia and pretty well everyone else in the World, Putin is currently only vulnerable to being toppled if he loses hosting the 2018 World Cup. When the Russians screamed "American plot" as FIFA personnel were being declared of interest by the FBI, there was probably a world first in geopolitics- Russian elite saying the truth...

How can this moron still be in his job

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34430729

He can't be still working out how to use the shredder

''The situation at Fifa is so ludicrous that the besieged Blatter can only address his staff through his lawyers. At this rate, he might like to go full Julian Assange and ask the Russian Embassy in Berne if they have a room spare.'' ''If they (FIFA) were to suspend Blatter today, for example, who would they end up with as interim president? None other than Issa Hayatou, the same figure who had to be disciplined by the International Olympic Committee in 2011 for allegedly receiving kickbacks. Even the inquiry into Blatter himself seems strangled at birth. It is led by Robert Torres, who as chief justice in the Pacific island of Guam is more likely to protect turtle colonies than he is to uncover vast malfeasance in the world’s largest sport. He, in turn, reports directly to Hans-Joachim Eckhart, the Munich judge responsible for the whitewash of Michael Garcia’s report on the Qatar World Cup bid.''

Platini doesn't come out of this article too good either :red_card: - haven't got a ROFL gif!
