whatdial Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Looking at the league table tonight, I think that all the teams currently below us are poorer and weaker than us and all should finish below us this season. Bristol, Preston, Bolton, Rotherham, MK Dons, Brentford, Charlton, Huddersfield and Leeds are all man for man poorer sides than we are. I think we are in the mid-range group consisting of Forest, QPR, Fulham, Sheff Wednesday, Cardiff and one or two others, who will float between flirting with relegation and the play offs but probably won't really be close to either come the end of the season. Wednesday are going up. Getting our act together now and keeping a settled team with plenty of back up. (I may be being slightly optimistic after 4 wins in a row, but we have some good players now).
blueboy3333 Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Wednesday are going up. Getting our act together now and keeping a settled team with plenty of back up. (I may be being slightly optimistic after 4 wins in a row, but we have some good players now). 3 of those 4 were Brentford, Preston and Newcastle, all completely out of form/shyte. I'd see how you get on against some good teams before you get the bunting out.
rickard Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I had completely missed that Joey Barton signed for Burnely. Like I needed one more reason to despise that turd...

Any stand out players at ewood this season?
Backroom Mike E Posted October 5, 2015 Backroom Posted October 5, 2015 Very true, just glad we have won those games. Rovers picked up now, keeping Rhodes fit the key. Any stand out players at ewood this season? For effort and endeavour with a sprinkling of class, undoubtedly Conway. Should be captain imo. Evans hitting the form of his life too in the middle.
Backroom DE. Posted October 5, 2015 Backroom Posted October 5, 2015 Conway's been a fantastic purchase. Him getting injured would be almost as bad as Rhodes, especially considering Marshall hasn't turned up yet.
Mattyblue Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Bolton away on 28th December now on Sky- 12.45 kick off. Reading away moved to Sunday 20th December (not on Sky).
joey_big_nose Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Very true, just glad we have won those games. Rovers picked up now, keeping Rhodes fit the key. Any stand out players at ewood this season? Weve had a run of four or five games now where everyones played well without exception. Don't know the last time we could say that? Particularly in midfield. If Koita, Guthrie and Taylor get fit we also have some squad depth which is much needed. So things generally looking pretty rosy except for a near total reliance on Jordan staying available as he is the only scorer in the squad. One more good striker is signed/emerges and we could star dreaming of the top half. Alternatively if Rhodes get injured there will worried glances to the bottom end of the table.
arbitro Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Some interesting numbers in the link. I didn't realise our shirts are the most expensive in the Championship. I have said for some time now that the cost of travel to away games should be subsidised by lower ticket prices. This would make for higher numbers of away supporters generating more match day income and better atmospheres. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/14_10_15_price_of_football.pdf

But, in any case, it's too much money regardless, even if you take our low ticket prices into account. The rising cost of football seems to be gathering pace recently, it's about time.
JHRover Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 The cost of things like merchandise and food/drink shouldn't really be included in this survey. As far as I am concerned these are optional extras that can easily be ignored if people aren't comfortable with the price. I very rarely buy food or drink at a football ground because I know that I am being fleeced and charged a ridiculous price for a poor product. If I walk away from the ground I will find better for cheaper in pubs and burger stands. Personally I haven't bought a replica shirt for some time. Partly because of the price, but mainly because I don't often wear them. I prefer to buy and wear a club polo shirt or tracksuit top and this enables access to home fan only pubs whilst on away trips. Put simply, if the price of shirts or pies are too expensive people can just say no and it won't really affect their support of their team. The issue is the cost of tickets, and there are a lot of clubs trying to fudge the stats by pointing to how much per game it is for season ticket holders. Match day ticket buyers are charged too much, as are away fans. These tickets should be capped at £20-£25, and the fact they are not means that a lot of people are unable to support their club/team and particularly the younger and older generations are being forced away.
had.e.nuff Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 untill fans protest with thier feet the clubs will keep increasing prices some clever protesting may put pressure on the big boy to lower costs , which should have a knock on effect to the smaller clubs . Maybe there should be organised boycots of some matches maybe just televised games ,which would not please tv companies, showing games with no crowd is not what they pay the big bucks for ,which would in turn lead to them putting pressure on clubs to treat fans better.

Backroom Mike E Posted October 17, 2015 Backroom Posted October 17, 2015 Well done to whoever organised the Preston fancy dress party. They all went dressed as blue seats!
Amo Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Alan Judge has scored two so far today for Brentford.
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Nick Blackman really in form and doing a good job for Reading
Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Nick Blackman really in form and doing a good job for Reading 9 in 9 now I think they said. Saw him on a Friday night game earlier this season against Ipswich and he looked quality. Did he ever look good playing for us? I certainly can't recall him looking anything special, and I can't remember anyone saying it was the wrong decision to let him go.
Ricky Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 He didn't do a great deal at Shefield United either.
Amo Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 He didn't do a great deal at Shefield United either. A goal every 2.5 games isn't a bad return.
Ricky Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Actually it's a decent return. for some reason I thought he struggled there but he only played 28 games before going to reading. His goal return in his first 2 seasons there has been poor though but there's no doubt he's hit a purple patch now. And it looks like he's out of contract so after his return of 8 goals in his first 2 1/2 years there he'll probably walk away on a free in the summer after scoring a load of goals.
chaddyrovers Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Very good set piece goal by Wolves against Derby.
Mercer Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Way things are shaping up so far this season, it looks like sixth place will need a minimum of 75 points. We therefore need at least 64 points from our remaining 35 games. A bridge too far I feel.
chaddyrovers Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Championship is far too unpredictable to predict at this stage IMV. Around mid/late November(20 games ish) will be around that time when you start to predict points total/how many points will be needed for a playoff place. Derby playing some good football here Wolves look really poor. Look like the loss of Dicko is affecting them now. Bolton are bottom of the league. Bolton owner/Chairman must be worried in case they get relegate this season and end up in League 1.
roverandout Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Anyone think rovers have a chance against derby on this showing?
