The fundamental issue is whether you agree with free market capitalism or not. I don't and don't vote for it, but we have a conservative government so most people do. Can't have it both ways.

Prices at Premier League football would be exactly the same no matter who was in charge of the Country.

As for Leicester, absolutely brilliant. I'd far rather their name went on the trophy than a supposed "big club" like Liverpool or Spurs.

We saw everything that's good and bad about football in the Etihaad today. Leicester and players like Vardy who are doing the business and bellends like Sterling who think they are the big I am and have made it despite having achieved next to nothing, and who generally contribute little.

Not necessarily. A more socialist government could enforce some degree of fan ownership. Other countries have it.

Not really the point I was making though. More a point that most people seem to support the free markets without knowing exactly what it means. Wages and ticket prices in football is a perfect example.

Good grief. If that amounts to "racial abuse" there's no hope. Don't suppose the alleged aggrieved party clocked he was a Premiership footballer and was angling for some form of compensation.

Back on topic as Rover_Shaun says I was referring to the fact he's worked his way up from non league to where he is today.

I thought Rev was referring to attitudes on the pitch......you know, like, on a football forum?

"bellend" is a weird word to use if you just want to assess someone's footballing ability

Did you read the whole thing? He's an aggressive little chav. Great footballer though.

Footballing ability isn't just the ability to pirouette or nutmeg someone once in a Preston Guild. It's attitude, application and desire. Mark Atkins had it in droves, whereas numpties like Goodwillie were just wage thieves.

Bellend is a perfect, if a little too kind, way of referring to a player like Sterling.

There'll be hell on Merseyside over that. The result will be directly blamed on the protest.

Granted, not in all areas, but at £77 for a single match, £1000 for a season ticket, where does it stop?

I really hope Leicester win it now.

They deserved today win.

You know what, chaddy, so do I.

Eventually there will be more teams that dilute our status but I'd much sooner that a plucky unfashionable Leicester won it before a Big Club like Spurs or Liverpool.

Absolutely! It's a genuinely remarkable achievement :)

Well it would be quite an achievement for Spurs to win it as well albeit it not on the same scale. Still don't believe Leicester will do it despite what bookmakers think. Can't believe that Ranieri has taken them so far when he couldn't do it at clubs with realistic title aspirations.

He will fall short in the end as usual I expect. Though certainly in this particular case it would still be a hell of an achievement. Champions League? Yes....title? No.

Pochettino obviously isn't getting as many plaudits as Ranieri (not just because Ranieri is a "nice" guy because MP has that rep too) but I bet his managerial career will ultimately prove more successful.

Not really. Not with the money they've spent, aided and abetted by the usual challengers having awful seasons all at the same time. We'd never hear the last of it if Spurs were to become champions, and there would be no mention of their outlay, in the way there was when Rovers won it.

And what makes you think Leicester won't win it? They've gone away to arguably their main rivals today and battered them. Bookies don't get it wrong very often.

I wouldn't mind Spurs winning it at all. Lots of young, English players in that team. Hard working with some likeable players.

Pochettino is a fantastic manager as well.

I haven't watched Leicester much (including today) but I don't believe the likes of Simpson can just become world beaters overnight. Ranieri is still a man who has underachieved over and over again in the vast majority of cases. I just simply can't see them maintaining this level of performance. You have to take possible injuries, suspensions, etc into account as well.

Spurs have wasted a lot of money in the past but Pochettino's regime can't be judged against them. Not many would have expected Spurs to win the title this season so it would be a huge achievement. I don't think they will either personally believe Man City will come into their stride by the end.

Totally agree if Spurs win it the collective prawn sandwich brigade southern bias press and media would collectively burst in a massive spunk bubble, the like of which would only be otherwise seen if WHAM won it on the 50th anniversary of "their" world cup win.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but with the greatest respect the two highlighted bits totally contradict each other and would suggest that your opinion is based on absolutely nothing. The only way Leicester will not win the league is if they start thinking about it too much and do a 'Devon Loch' as Fergie tried (and almost succeeded) talking us into doing.

Not sure why you've picked Simpson out (maybe because of one of his former clubs), but I'm pretty sure there would have been few people picking Mark Atkins and Jason Wilcox out as future title winners if they'd seen them play in the late 80s/early 90s (and with the same club too!)

I'm basing it on my natural instincts. Yes I've used Simpson as an example as he's the one I've seen most.

Not saying this to be unkind but to put it bluntly Ranieri is a loser. Not in the financial sense or being a bad manager. He's won Cup competitions but ultimately much of his managerial career has been a failure. Certainly in regards to what he was expected to achieve.

Most clubs have a bad patch at some point and I won't be surprised if Leicester do.
