Keep an eye out for certain journos linking him with one or more of: Boro, Sunderland, Birmingham and Coventry (if they fail in the play offs) this summer. I would add Charlton and Hibs too but won't, because they aren't seen as upgrades on Rovers.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Derby is an easy assumption to make. It might happen as it sounds logical due to the Eustace link, but let's see.

I think he'll end up at one of the mid-table muddle teams - QPR / Bristol City / Millwall et al on better wages than we offered.

Why do you mention them at all? Particularly Hibs

(Not having a go, just wondering)

while i`me not to dismayed to see dolan leave for basically nothing,i am far more concerned about losing travis, tronstadt and brittain,if not this summer then definately next year, when they all become free agents.you can`t run a football club like this and expect to stay in the division,i don`t see any contract talks either, you simply can`t let 3 of your best players run their deals down, wtf is going on

So they can't hide behind it being a PL move for Dolan (it was never going to be anyway)

They can't hide behind it being one of the 'trampoline' clubs throwing their cash around.

Instead it is a run of the mill mid-table side snapping up another one of our important players on a free transfer. You can bet they move quickly to get the deal done and recruit, whereas we will be scratching around waiting for demands to drop and loans to become available.

I'm old enough to remember when I was being assured on here that thanks to our sensible approach compared to reckless spending by clubs like Middlesbrough, Stoke and Bristol that we'd reap the benefits of it when they had to make substantial cutbacks and face the consequences of FFP trouble. That, of course, never happened and never was going to happen.

I'm sure there will be people on explaining how Middlesbrough can offer him far more than we can because they're getting bigger gates. I'd like anyone who is thinking that to first calculate how many extra tickets they would have to sell to put a dint in the £30 million+ in cash we've received in the last 18 months from selling assets and why a small fraction of that can't be used to ensure our key players are under competitive long term contracts.

Good news for the slimeball stooges though, another contract avoided. We really haven't changed at all from the days of losing Rothwell, Lenihan and Nyambe have we? Despite all the talk, especially under Broughton, of ensuring such things never happen again we are right back at it under the stooges.

Latte Latthe - £22.5M

Isaiah Jones  - £5M

Morgan Rogers - £15M

Akpom - £10.5M

The previous season they sold Spence & Tavernier for more than £20M, and this summer Hackney will likely be sold for big money.  They rejected multiple bids for him in January because they could get a better price in the summer if they didn't go up (can you imagine not selling your star home grown midfielder at the sniff of the first offer?)

But unlike Rovers under Venkys, Boro have ambition & reinvest the money they recieve

Boro reinvest and despite bigger gates so bigger wages i assume Gibson still has to prop them up so they can reinvest in fees and and wages.

There's a downside to everything though as i reckon a lot of players go there purely for the wages they pay. If our lot were still putting money underwriting costs in then when unavoidable big transfers do happen a good wedge of that could be reinvested but oh no there's always a problem or excuse here.
