January Transfer window 2022

People need to get real about what the other players think of Rothwell. It's a job to them, they'd think he was bloody crackers if he didn't ask to speak to another Club that was offering 6x his salary. If nothing came of it they wouldn't take it as a personal sleight he was leaving them in the lurch - it's business for them.

Why would we have any replacements lined up? We've been proceeding on the basis for 28 days of the window no-one will be allowed to leave (allegedly).

I’d sack Park on the spot if we didn’t have options lined up. A player with 4 months on his deal and clubs interested?!?!?

Get real about the players thoughts on Rothwell…. But let’s be realistic, there’s no way we’ve considered a single replacement for him 🙄

It's 48 hrs before the end of the window!

What might have been acceptable in the first week of January isn't now.

You and I are not privy to Rovers transfer discussions or plans…. So this is purely conjecture.

Because he said "What if" we could get x and y in?

He also said Joe Rothwell will NOT be leaving unless we get replacements in.

Good point. It's hardly unexpected. We've been speculating about it for months.

Ah. So you've been adamant all window that no-one should be allowed to leave.

Buy now because the owners share your previously held view and Mowbray seemingly doesn't you've performed a complete 180.

OK.

This may come as a shock to you Rev, but I'm not a decision maker at Ewood, I offer my opinion only on a messageboard, I'd make Rothwell stay if I was the manager, no 180 here.

Do I really need to explain this to you?

The owners are meddling in team affairs and no amount of deflection from you will change that.

I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. On Wednesday was it he said no-one was leaving. If however he is as good as his word on this then it is of course the correct stance.

Why then, hang him out to dry in the media and alienate the fan base against him if we might have to "welcome" him back?

With folk like you the owners can never do right for doing wrong.

And Saint Mowbray & cronies are complete innocents in everything 🙄

If he plays good enough to earn a place, I would have no problem with Joe playing. Loyalty to a club is a long gone traite. If he is in our winning side at Swansea next week, I will cheer him. At least if he scores, he will not have to go through the kissing of the badge routine.

Agreed

But when they ask for loyalty and support from fans sometimes they might have to suck it up when it doesn't come for free....

Hope not jim.

Different positions and replacing a £6m player (if the offer is to be believed) with a £200k one isn't the way to win promotion.

Literally same interview we’re discussing he said Hedges isn’t a replacement for Rothwell.  You seem to have very selective hearing regards this subject.

I’d say on this it’s the other way round.  Mowbray isn’t perfect, but you have to take each situation individually, and on this one I don’t think he’s done a lot wrong.  You, Rev and others want to dig him out for everything.

Question for everybody.
You are Tony Mowbray.

TM - the owners tell me they don’t want to sell you at this point Joe. If we keep you for now, will you put 100% into games.

JR - I can’t guarantee that boss.

What are you going to do?

Like he has said or would say that.

Come off it den.

Edit: Equally hypothetically if his answer was "Absolutely boss, without a shadow of a doubt"

What do you do then?

Mowbray has to work out what Rothwells reaction would be if they denied him his move. Who knows what it would be?

Fact is rothwell dose not want to be here anymore , he has no loyalty to his team mates ,club

or fans , has been waiting all season for a better offer and now it has , he wants

out. Só get him out and some one new in his place and carry on the charge up the league .

It’s the first season we have seen any consistency from him , is that a coincidence ?  who knows

so i say , let him go and move on .

I would question why a player who has been here 4 years and should have bonded with this 'great set of lads' won't give 100%, and then wonder if all those times I've dug him out for not defending well when he's had a great game, or dropped him or played him out of position, has made him pissed off?

I would bring the rest of the squad into the room and ask him the question again. Then explain to the rest of the squad, that is why Joe Rothwell no longer trains with Blackburn Rovers at any level.

So you'd let him go even if it was logistically impossible to get anyone else in in time would you?

Will you be booing him if he's still here Tuesday morning?
