He’s absolutely Streisand Effected himself here, no attention was paid to the original tweet now it seems like thousands are laughing at him feuding with a pie. Properly embarrassing stuff.

Not wanting to defend Nixon in any way shape or form but am I missing the point here - why is he feuding with a pie because someone is utilising the username "southstandpies"? If someone used the name and avatar of "Mr. Blobby" would he be arguing with that character?

I did think someone listing the ingredients of a pie in lieu of this person's name was very witty though.

He’s made a huge error of judgement here and made himself a target of ridicule.

People have also dug up tweets including potentially offensive and racist terms.

All due to spotlighting an account that had a dozen followers

The accusation is incredibly believable too. I've always thought he's done similar with Rovers.

Absolutely

Made me laugh years ago when some seemed to think he did 11 o'clockers on here just because he liked Rovers 🤣

It's so obvious that the allegations are true. How many times has he brought out distraction stories for this club just when things are turning to complete shit.

His reaction and subsequent meltdown have all but confirmed it.

That football finance prick is the same as well. Constantly putting out puff pieces for venkys every time they deposit a tenner into the club books. Nobody with a functioning braincell would write that sort of shit unless they were being paid to do so.

If you're on about that Kevin Maguire fella, I wouldnt put him in anything like the same bracket as Nixon.

On the whole I think he is reasonably well informed, fair and balanced.

Nixon's piece de resistance has to be his unwavering support for an American taking over the Club pre Venky's by the name of Dan Williams, a seemingly fictitious character who it's far from clear ever existed.

Someone was pulling his chain big style with that one.

Maguire’s major issue is that he tries to spread himself too thin with financial  ‘insights’ into all clubs.

So it’s all very superficial. ‘The Venky’s put in 20 million s year, great owners’ is as far as the ‘analysis’ goes.

Agreed…he can rightly criticise Steve Dale, Dai Yongge & Chansiri so by comparison, Venky’s look supportive. If they owned Brighton his view would be different.

Superficial, indeed...willing to comment, when spectacularly ill -informed..

Source: Lancashire Telegraph https://share.google/U4YfLMg2RrO8kJqPq

I had a quick look at that again last night and found a 2008 LT article from Andy Nield saying the "deal" was off with someone purporting to be Williams saying Rovers wanted too much money etc etc.

At the time there was no trace whatsoever of Williams or his Company or any of his business activities on the Internet nor any photos of him, the only photo purporting to be him was that single College graduation style snap.

Nield's article said that Williams' partners would have been a Connetticut based venture capital Company called Plainfield Asset mananagement. A search of Plainfield Asset Management now on Wikipedia shows that that it is a defunct Company started in 2005, was wound up in 2012 and by 2008 was "93% illiquid" with Customers barred from withdrawing their investment.

I thought at the time, and am even more convinced in light of the above, it was a complete hoax, if anyone thinks different, that's fine.

I assume that Williams is real, however his trustworthiness, motives, plans, and financial muscle seem to have been questionable. I suspect that he lost any money he may have had in the 2007/08 financial crisis.

After his Rovers attempt he moved on to the Rochester Rhinos in the USA. Here is an article that quotes him; Williams Rhinos bid.

He never completed his Rhinos takeover. His "friend" or "10's of million of dollars" never materialised. The Rhinos no longer exist.

Edit; it's hard to imagine but Venkys look to have been the best of a truly awful bunch. They competed against a fantasist and an alleged international scam artist. Who was doing the due diligence? Did they propose mugs on purpose so Venkys would look good?

My favourite of his (which I fell for, to his his credit) was the month long saga with weekly clues as to the absolute superstar striker signing we were about to land from a big club, only for it to be Franco DiSanto on loan.

I honestly thought Luca Toni was genuinely coming that time 🤣
