Not a great endorsement for his coaching ability when the team gets gradually worse the more he coaches them. You would hope for the exact opposite

It seems like he needs a specific set of players to play the way he wants (although to be clear, we have no evidence at this point in time that his style, whatever it is, actually works outside of Sweden). It's obvious that the vast majority of our players don't fit into that method of playing. He must have known when he signed on with us that we didn't have the money available to replace 50-75% of the team, and you'd hope he'd have done his research on our squad and the abilities of our players before joining.

Adaptability is very important to learn as a young, inexperienced manager. Unless you're walking into a Man City, Bayern, PSG type job you can't expect that the squad is going to be good enough to adjust to your preferred method, or that the club you're joining will be willing or able to replace the majority of the team to give you the necessary players. The manager, at this stage of his career, must be more flexible and willing to adapt. Either that or he needs to make sure the team he selects to manage have players with the attributes required to begin with a solid base. Watching our team at any point last season, especially in the latter half, would have made it clear we don't have hugely technical or intelligent players. Transfer history meanwhile would tell you that we aren't going to spend huge amounts on overhauling the squad. Our overall history since 2011 would have told you everything you need to know about the owners and the people they employ.

Crap situation for JDT, but this is a Venky's run club. If he's surprised then he simply didn't do his homework before signing on the bottom line.

I'll be honest, I still have no idea how he wants to play. Nothing makes sense watching the games unfold. We are far to deep, the back 4 drop right back to try and play out from the back. They dont have the ability to do that, so the midfield ends up dropping deeper and deeper to give them an option. We then end up in a practical back 6 and are incredibly easy to push up and defend against.

Just get diaz up top, dack in behind. Thomas one side and dolan/hedges the other and get them to play a higher line. At least get our midfield higher up the pitch in areas to do more damage rather than pinned in our own 3rd all game. Play with more urgency and look forward more. Dont be afraid to give the ball away, look to make a positive decision.

JDT is paid to coach and improve the players. With each passing week we get worse and worse. No good blaming recruitment, try and do your job first then add in areas the squad lacks. There is an air of inevitability watching this side every week under JDT, its a painful groundhog day.

I’d prefer see a coach who isn't scared to change things, having a proper go (attacking with intent) at home especially against a team who is bottom of the league, his calibre means nothing when we are churning out performances like this.

He can't change things with that underfunded shambles of a squad.

Diaz would be just as disinterested as he was last night, and Dolan/Hedges would just be as inconsistent.

Diaz had the best opportunity of the night and squandered it.

It was incredibly stupid of Gregg Broughton to bring JDT in, if he wants to play a specific way and there was no way of backing him.

I disagree, are you saying that the way we played last night is the only way we can play because it’s underfunded. I’m talking about the style of football, he can change things and go more expansive with what we currently have.

Dolan and Thomas on either wing a central striker or even 2 would be a significant positive change. But hay you can do that basic change without massive funding

I'm saying that even if we played differently we'd still be lacking in goals, still concede goals and still play poorly.

It's a very poor squad with some decent players, and our only player capable of being a prolific goalscorer isn't giving it 100%.

Who scores enough goals for us to be significantly better?

The problem is he never makes any significant changes in a game, his subs are like for like. Last night they had 2 defenders injured and we continued to approach the game the same, we never attempted to make changes which could have impacted the game.

We are short on quality up front but have never tried playing Gallagher and BBD as a front 2 with wide players. It’s like watching a fly trying to escape through an open window, never learns and keeps hitting the glass instead of going through the open window

Gallagher and BBD would be just as terrible. Any combination of those players isn’t suddenly going to turn Sam Gallagher into a player, or Vale, or make Brereton play like we know he can. Brereton was clearly elsewhere last night. He’s definitely avoiding injury too.

Last night we had three defenders injured.

Just keep trying fly out of that window then pal…

2 wide players and Dack just off Gallagher or BBD is another option. All I’m saying is you have to try these things not just say they won’t work. Chucking Chris Samba up front for the last 10-15 mins of game changes things, shouldn’t really do it but it will change a game and put pressure on a team.

Not sure what that means but okay.

If only we had players of the quality and dependability of Chris Samba...

Both things are true at the same time.

The people who run the club are totally inept and the manager is out of his depth.

The piss poor results cannot be blamed on the lack of signings as we have seen gutless, clueless and downright cowardly performances many times this season.

The whole situation with the transfer window in January is a total disgrace. Anyone who was involved in it needs booting immediately.

The game.

I think we need to play three central midfielders.

4-2-3-1 is popular the world over. It's not inferior to 4-3-3 in any way.

It's not the system, it's the players. In a 4-3-3 you have nowhere to play Dack (unless you want a False 9) - that's not going to go down well.

it`s better to keep the game simple

4/4/1/1,get it wide quickly and get balls into the box and get midfielders further forward with a defensive midfielder minding the shop, dack off a main striker is definately his best position,he`s excellent at finding space and anticipating the ball, buckley would be better as well in the other teams half, while we are at it send that tool morton back to liverpool the airy fairy prat, that free kick against wigan sums him up,a wannabee that will turn  into a never will be,probably end up playing for tranmere

I think we often have things the wrong way round at Rovers. Instead of having a system in your head and trying to shoe-horn the players into it, why don't we pick our best players and then use a system that suits them?

Ridiculous to have better players on the bench than on the field.

we were turned down by farke, carvalho and everyone else who had an interview!!!!!!!was`nt jdt approached on the off chance he`d just left malmo, this next manager search should be fun🤣

Did Farke even get interview? who else was interviewed.

JDT was approach when GB become our Director of football and he left Malmo six months before he came here

I've really wanted to believe that JDT would eventually come good.

I've now decided that he's just not very good at his job.

The standard of football he's producing is atrocious.

not very good at his job?

Surely its about results not the standard of football. If McCarthy or Warnock was here playing similar and results wise would people still be complaining over the standard of football
