bazza
Most positions you can fill with brilliant players. The one position I cannot think of a truly outstanding player is RB. The first one I saw was Ron Suart. Ok, we have Berg, Emerton, Kenna, Neill. We've never had a Piqué.

A Rolls-Royce of a player, todays football would be right up his street.

Bohinen1983
I reckon this would be an exciting side to watch... Too many to choose from: Sutton, Santa Cruz, Sherwood, Batty, Dunny, Henchoz, Emerton, Friedel, Flowers, Samba I could easily have slotted in, just gone for the ones I've found most entertaining to watch Raya Le Saux Berg Hendry Emerton Duff Tugay Rothwell Bellamy Shearer Mccarthy

I’d have Eckersley before Le Saux every day of the week Just before my time but to get as many England caps as he did in the era when we weren’t playing Transylvania and Treasure Island twice a year says a lot. Admittedly I suppose Raya suits the current style more a la the original question, as Friedel's kicking was the only poor element of his game, but still... Does that shop still exist? Do you realise Fergie Suter only plated one game for us? Where is Jack Southworth in that team? I think he scored more goals per game than Shearer did.
