I had my neice's fella and their young son at Burnley's parade, along with many good mates. I had my daughter's long time fella at the Leeds parade. Very, very sad. Quote

To call the ref "as incompetent as our owners" and that "he should never be allowed to ref again" are orders of magnitude greater than the error. We all know that Venkys (our owners) are much much worse than a bad decision during a Premier league game with implications for 4th or 5th place. To say that an official should not referee a game again is yet another hyperbolic statement that I'd expect only a Villa fan to make. Referee's make mistakes weekly, why is the one he made deserving of him giving up his profession? There is still nothing on Martinez's idiocy, or Villa's 12 points from 33 to end 2024. Let's blame the referee instead. It's easy to do. 3 Quote
RoverDom Posted May 27 Posted May 27 If this happened in October it would have been nothing more than a tut and a shake of the head. The fact its happened on the last game of the season has raised the profile of it but ultimately its just the cherry on top of a season of shortcomings in the league. Quote

He started having a go at the referee for a mistake that had lead to the 3rd goal. He then stopped, laughed, and said something along the lines of 'maybe I'm having a go at the wrong person here as he only made one mistake - my defenders made loads and that's why we lost!' 1 Quote
JHRover Posted yesterday at 16:00 Posted yesterday at 16:00 Probably one of Silva, Araola or Frank to go there next. Can't see any of them being the saviour either. Quote

Backroom DE. Posted yesterday at 16:25 Backroom Posted yesterday at 16:25 The Europa league was ultimately contested for by two of the worst teams in the PL. Winning a trophy is obviously an achievement, but the Spurs board likely saw it for what it was. Their league campaign, injuries or not, was diabolical. If they'd finished 10th - 12th I think Ange would be staying, but 17th is horrific. They would have legitimately been in a relegation scrap if any of the bottom three were PL quality. Quote
Claytons Left Boot Posted yesterday at 16:26 Posted yesterday at 16:26 In their ‘corporate-bullsh!t-statement’ they say Ange was sacked ‘after significant reflection.’ Pull the other one. Absolute disgrace after what he has just achieved for them. Perfectly sums up the English game and the need for success and the need for that success now. Or in Spurs’ case, the need for even more success now. Quote
roversfan99 Posted yesterday at 16:31 Posted yesterday at 16:31 I dont see how it is a "disgrace" or indeed how any managerial decision is a disgrace. They finished 17th in the Premier League. The cup win obviously is huge but you cant based on this season think logically that Ange is the man to take them forward. The correct as opposed to sentimental decision has been made. Quote

The correct as opposed to sentimental decision has been made. He just has taken them forward. He’s won their fourth European trophy, the last one being 41 years ago. They last won the league 64 years ago and they’re not going to win it any time soon, irrespective of who their manager is. Slow and steady progress is the key with Spurs but, like most clubs, they just will not wait and want more success now. I’ve got news for them. They ain’t gonna get it. He told them he’d win a trophy in his second season and he delivered. A good trophy it was too. 1 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago Don't agree with Spurs decision to sacked Ange. After winning a trophy they should have back him not sack him. Looks like Thomas Frank is the favourite for the job Quote

Rogerb Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago If one of the promoted sides manages to pick up more points than Spurs next season they could well be in the bottom three. Quote

Or in Spurs’ case, the need for even more success now. The fact you're a Celtic fan has nothing to do with your feelings of course! I can't believe the amount of sympathy Ange got after scabbing possibly the worst game of football I've ever seen in my life. If it were a boxing match the referee would have stopped it on the basis neither party were making a fist of it. If they'd have lost that debacle, (which could easily have happened) no -one would have been lobbying for him to stay. They were diabolical in the League and Ange showed himself to be tactically inept and inflexible in his approach. I don't particularly like Spurs but from their point of view at least they didn't make the same mistake Man Ure did in keeping Ten Hag on and then having to sack him a couple of months later. And whist not great Ten Hag performed a lot better in the League than Ange. Edited 3 hours ago by RevidgeBlue Quote

And they may well have liked him as a man, but it didn't stop them finishing 17th. And if you are basing a manager on whether he is the right man, you base it predominately on the bread and butter of a league campaign. Edited 27 minutes ago by roversfan99 Quote
