Indeed. They are just very lucky to be situated where they are. As a reminder there’s as many league clubs between a handful of junctions of the M65 as there is in the whole north east of England.

You’ll likely get your Jelly and Ice Cream all the same but Esteve signed a new contract, hopefully Beyer and Ekdal are back fit and we’ve added Hartmann, Tuanzabe & of course Kyle Walker so you might argue outfield player wise it’s stronger rather than being dismantled. Obviously need a new number 1 now and will no doubt struggle - but we would have regardless.

Still no sign of a striker either

Not even rivalry bias, just the way I see it. 

He was starting to look fairly woeful in top level teams. Where his attacking strength should still shine.

He's always been suspect defensively. So, in a team that is more likely to be on the back foot than attacking the final 3rd, can't fathom this one at all.

Mix in his waning pace, the distraction of his off field antics, and it looks a recipe for disaster imo. 

Feel free to come back at me in 6 months if he becomes a Michel Salgado. I'm quietly confident.

Not sure I agree but you might be spot on - that said  his experience could be invaluable. Inevitably we are taking calculated risks. We can’t compete for proven talent in its prime so has to be older, like walker, potentially injury prone (Hartmann and Tuanzabe) or unproven kids with perceived potential (Koleosho when we signed him). 
 

I doubt I’ll have anything to gloat about in 6 months or all season though - even if Walker proves you wrong on every point
