It doesn’t really tell us anything thst we on here don’t already know. It just refers to “ Blackburn “, it doesn’t mention the Chicken Chokers at all.

It come to something when the women players have more balls than the men when it comes to speaking out !

TBF that's nothing new. We didn't get much tangible social change until the suffrage movement started gaining momentum.

Whether or not many people watched the women's team, they are Rovers all the same and any true Rovers fan should be disgusted by this.

A lass (16) who I do private coaching for has just signed for Rovers u21's turning down Everton and Liverpool, same story for her. Puts a massive dent in her plans for the next couple of years

Does this news means that the womens team would be completely scrapped, or just not funded to play in the WSL? Meaning they could carry on but a level or so lower?

Possibly be like the Doncaster Belles, used to be in the top leagues, now knock around the fourth tier as an amateur team.

Reading Women went from the second tier to fifth this time last year I think. Presuming a similar trajectory for us, this means (according to Wikipedia) the North West Women's Regional Football League (Premier), in the illustrious company of Darwen, FC United, and Wythenshawe.

Give it a few more years and the Men's team will be playing the same, no doubt.

Edit - not even Wythenshawe, who appear to have been promoted. Let's say Curzon Ashton instead...

That's just really sad that. Hope for her sake and the other women that it doesn't turn sour.

Yes we've a cross section on the panel,

We are talking with the current squad and are finalising a statement which should be out at some point on the official X handle (if you could please follow)

The big blow for a lot of the young women affected (16-19) will be that this could seriously hamper their chances of going to American D1 Universities which is a well trodden/lucrative pathway for female footballers. It's not just the short term impact these decisions have it's the long term life changing impact they have

The point is more if you can't fund, then sod off and let someone else and treat people better at least give some warning.

Maybe under other owners this wouldn’t illicit such anger, but it's just another thing with this lot and no trust in them. Cutbacks once they start, where do they stop?

A couple of matches, and I follow their social accounts. I can't take a high and mighty stance on this, if it was decided the women's team should be ceased with good reason, I'd accept it. My bigger issue is, once again, club communication has been awful, based on Murphy's post. Treat those involved with the team respectfully and I'd have little issue. However I seem to recall there were issues last summer, and there were mumblings that they weren't even allowed to use coffee machines at the STC.

Is that relevant? Our ladies team has a fantastic legacy of producing international standard players, and acts as a beacon for young girls to play professionally. It also, crucially, provides a career path for aspiring girls who wish to be sportswomen  and helps get some of these girls into some of the best sporting colleges in America.

It isn’t just about watching BUT women’s football is seeing a rising tide of support. No surprise that our owners don’t see any value in what others do.
