"By transitioning into a lower tier, the club can continue to support competitive football in a structure that is community-based and financially viable, "

Is that quote from May 2012 or May 2017?

"Cannot be sustained under current financial framework" aka our billionaire owners can't afford to increase the budget for the women's squad from £100-150k to £400-600k by their own estimates. Utterly pathetic by the club, especially when they bigged up the Lionesses who came through our ranks.

The easiest thing for any business is to save money, the trickiest is to make money.

Executives at this club are complicit in the long term damage of this football club because you cannot cut costs forever without doing reversible damage.

We are very close to becoming a toxic brand. With sympathy even for associated fans disappearing.

I just made the mistake of reading some of the comments on the Facebook post. Is it just me, failing to see that this is an inevitable and sound business decision with only positive implications for the men's team? Im really sorry that I'm not quite getting it.

The two are mutually exclusive. Any investment in the women’s team has no affect on the men’s team or ffp.

Its just another prime example of how our owners don’t give a shit about the club, town, or the sport itself.

It shouldn’t matter if 1 man and a dog attends or if we have 30k there - we have billionaire owners who should be supporting the women’s game. It probably costs less to run that team a year than Waggotts £600k+ salary and pension

I think I’m done with the club this offseason until we see change. Not because of this, but I’m just tired of how long it’s going on. Summed up with this Indian court case (where it seems Waggot has lied to us about - shock)

Why do they always have to handle stuff really badly as well? We must be the least professional outfit in the country.

Another embarrassing day for us fans, caused by the ownership.

A horrible decision, surely there are no financial restraints on how they could be backed so surely our owners could prove their commitment to the club and the town by backing them?

It makes very little sense, at all. It feels to me like it can only be decisions taken out of spite, now. Certainly not the actions of anyone who cares at all about success, reputation, community etc

So they've deliberately relegated the Women's team for financial reasons exactly the same as they did with the men's.

Yes.

They're quibbling over £600k, which tells you how miniscule the budget will be this summer for the men's team.

I genuinely don't know what the Rovers fan base has done to earn such vile owners.

Look on the bright side, it isn't all bad, that saving will do wonders for Waggott trying to hit his target and qualify for his bonus next year.
