If we could upgrade on the shell of a player that is Callum Brittain it would be fantastic.

Actually think there's a decent player in Brittain, just that he along with most of the back 4 are going through a bad patch. Hyam looks like he came back too soon, Hill hasnt  been the same player for a while and Carter also been off. Ironic that Wharton who was awful himself a few months ago has been our best defender these last few weeks.

Wouldn't argue that full back is a position that should be a priority, even over a striker.

Second worst defense in the league says it all

One season factoring his age I think your going to be disappointed when the fee gets revealed

Szmodics is entering his prime and I don't see him being sold now and the summer. He is crucial to us..

WBA link doesn't add given their financial problems with their owner

no surprise to see linked with a full back espically if JRC will move into CM when fit

A 20 year old on loan.

That sounds silly enough for us alright.

That's the market we are in as are many other championship teams. We don't have the wages to spend on proven players or the transfer fee to buy them.

I rated Brittain very highly but he is going through a bad patch of form. Brittain is still a good player and someone who is big asset to Rovers

Correction - that is the market we are choosing to be in because of "the model".

Send your players to the Ewood development scheme.

Unlikely to be a great help to us short term, and then he goes back to the parent club.

This is where a more savvy, orthodox set up, ie a canny manager, would wheel and deal in the market.

How much did Luton spend last season, and yet they weren't obsessed with player development.

£5m - £6m for the current championship top goal scorer who’s just signed a contract until 2026?

No chance.

It could easily be done, 5 mill rising to 8 with add ons, that's how they'd do it i assume.

Sounds good but there's no guarantee you'd ever see enough triggers to get the full fee however 5 or 6 mill guaranteed would be attractive to a skint club.

We have one of the lowest budget in the championship and simply don't have finances to sign proven players. We would all have loved a proven goalscorer but we don't have the finances sadly. We are looking at the mainly the loan market cos that where we can pick up quality players for 6 months/the season who can add that quality we need. So far we have linked to 2 full backs(both on loan), The Crewe CB and 2 strikers(both on loan).

We can still wheel and deal in the market but each player must fit into our style of play and how JDT wants to play. Looking towards this summer recruitment I would be targeting players in Germany, Holland and Scandinavia plus looking for talented players in league 1 and 2.

Brittain, Carter, Hyam, Pickering, Hill, Travis, Tronsdat ...

That backline and defensive mids etc is more than capable enough to defend but we are more preoccupied in most cases with trying to make them look like Brazilian footballers.

The right system we'd concede less but of course we'd create less because if we don't look to play through teams from back to front there isn't much at the other end to create it's own stuff. If there was, as has been needed for years, some sort of target man in the squad and we could offer some threat from set pieces we'd be capable of pinching a few results.

Szmodics to Birmingham and to be sold for under 6million 😂😂😂, some people really have started the New Years celebrations early, don’t drink on a empty head

You're right. £6m?

Gregg probably "negotiated" a £2.5m release clause into his contract.

I don’t understand how people are itk on potential transfers (both in and out) but not in regard to players signing new contracts.

We are about to enter the season of one-upmanship. 😉😂

Be aware.

Thank you official club spokesperson.

Wheeling and dealing involves the buying and selling of players, including astute free / low money transfers.

We are on a puritanical youth quest, led by iffy DOF, gunner Broughton.

We did that in the summer when we sold Kaminski, Phillips plus released Dack and Ayala and signed some good players like Sigurdsson, Tronstad plus a couple of loan players who added quality to the squad.

Developing our talent young players is one of key part of our footballing plan. We have cat 1 status and we should be developing players each season from the under 21/18 each season

Target man who could hold the ball up till the calvary catches up. Better way to build up an attack instead of overloading the wings and being caught out. In the last 3 games we have seen Travis and Tronstadt making last ditch tackles with the rest of the defence 30 yards away. The squad is more than capable I agree.

Having a Category 1 academy is great, but becoming obsessed with developing young players at the expense of ambition is not.

For several years the narrative has been “jam tomorrow “ , but tomorrow never comes.

We are a soft touch, as our home form clearly illustrates.

A 20 year old full back on loan from Brentford and a young centre back from Crewe are unlikely to change that.
