chaddyrovers Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Well done Sunderland. 1 hour ago, simongarnerisgod said: sunderland will have to spend a lot of money sensibly to have a go at staying in the premier league,i can`t think of any of their players, bar ballard and maybe the goalkeeper hacking it in the top flight Sunderland will used the PL money to buy potential and not waste money like Southampton and Burnley did but continue with what their plan has been since their owner came in. I think Bellingham will stay unless he has an offer from Dortmund or something like that. Wouldn't surprise me if Moyes at Everton went for him 1 hour ago, Waggy76 said: They will get a few quid for Harmer. They got new owners and still second season PL parachute money but I think Hamer will have PL teams after him and I think Cooper and Souza might aswell Quote
bazza Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago So glad that Sunderland won. For about 70 minutes they were second best. But they have always seemed to be a team of rubbish first half but better second half. IMO they were the best team to visit Ewood this season followed by Sheff Utd. Good luck to them. 3 Quote

Ossydave Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I was expecting a wilder meltdown post match in his interview, fair play he was actually reasonable and congratulated Sunderland, he's right though that second 'goal' would have been game over, although he didn't dwell on it like I expected him to. Both Sunderland and Leeds have the potential to stay up with some big investment. Quote
philipl Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Glad Sheffield cheaters stayed down. Wilder getting his half time talk and subs all wrong makes it even better. 1 Quote

roversfan99 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago With the financial inequalities in this country, its hard to make a strong case for any of the promoted sides to stay up. They all have to essentially sign a new teams worth of players to stand a chance, Sunderland in particular. I dont see which current Premier League team will face much jeopardy. If West Ham dont sack Potter then they are probably the most likely. Was great to see Sheff United not go up purely because of how much of a dickhead Wilder is. Quote
Mattyblue Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Gav didnt say it was ‘impossible’ without parachutes, but he did say wasn’t going to happen ‘9/10’. However, last three seasons Luton, Ipswich and Sunderland have all done it without them. So, of course, it’s a very unfair system, but doable, especially for those clubs that spend year after year around the top end of the leag…oh 1 Quote

Mattyblue Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) They are fortunate when it comes to support, good luck to them on that, but as one of only three league clubs in the whole north east of England it can’t lead to anything but a big fanbase. Compare and contrast to hemmed in Blackburn Rovers. Edited 4 hours ago by Mattyblue 3 Quote
arbitro Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I honestly couldn't see Sunderland winning this match but Sheffield United seemed to go to pieces when Hamer went off injured. Credit to Sunderland for seizing the initiative but the game summed up the Championship to me. A few incidents aside there was very little quality with poor ball retention. I wasn't really bothered who won but good luck to Sunderland - they'll certainly need it. Their dilemma will be whether or not to throw money at it or just to be conservative and consolidate. It's a dilemma I'd love to have for Rovers. Quote

Imagine if our seasons hadn't been routinely sabotaged half way through. Edited 4 hours ago by Upside Down 2 Quote

Fulham and Bournemouth only get promoted 3 seasons ago and what they have done is brought quality players and have a plan of what they would do. I don't get think Southampton bought well and I think Leicester seem not be able massively in the squad due to PL FFP. I expect Leeds will target 6 or 7 quality signings that fit into the current squad. Burnley need a couple of quality strikers. I suspect Sunderland will stick to their model of buying young players and developing them. They didn't spend loads of money around 5 mil last summer and in the winter window they turned Idisor loan into a perm move and signed Le Fee on loan which now they are promoted will turned into a permanent transfer for £20m 4 minutes ago, arbitro said: I honestly couldn't see Sunderland winning this match but Sheffield United seemed to go to pieces when Hamer went off injured. I think Sunderland should stick to their plan which they had since their owner bought the club and appointed Speakman as Director of Football who background is youth development at Birmingham. I think they will spend around £40m after this permanent move for Le Fee for £20m cos of their promotion but they will buy young and develop them Quote

roversfan99 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago One of the most recent policies that did work was spending as much as Forest did. The gap is getting bigger. Quote

Wolves did ok when they switched manager and he'd got his feet under the table, lost a few recently but only after they confirmed safety. Brighton had a good season for the most part they just seem to be frustratingly inconsistent which meant they just missed out on the top 6. Palace had a solid second half to the season, but if they lose a few it may affect them next time out. Bournemouth may struggle, fell apart around Feb time. Surprised you haven't listed West Ham, they'll be down there unless they throw a sizeable amount of cash at next season and actually use it wisely for once. Quote
