Essentially we'll keep him hanging for a most of the window and probably end up signing him back up because we've offered peanuts for any other targets we've picked out. "Try and sort yourself out, Adam, but we'll almost certainly circle back to you in August when we're priced out of our other targets". 2 Quote

Plus he repeatedly told everyone the owners are putting money in the owners are funding us despite all available evidence for over a year showing otherwise. I'd suggest nobody knows the budget yet until the V's summer meeting, nothing unusual in that with this lot but this is where major problems manifest.Β Those at the club 'assume' the budget will be the same and set the stall out for that... then......meeting in the farmhouse and 'no you must cut another 10/20% off it' ! Other clubs have already made signings. There's a lot unusual about us not knowing our budget for the next season in May.Β Quote

Tomphil2 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago When was the last time we enabled a gaffer to have a full pre season with 90% of his squad ? Probably the days when we didn't sign anybody. Quote

To be fair we might still be on target for that - Batth, Weimann signed up for cheap, Hedges contract extension activated. New contracts to Academy players like Powell and Batty. I'd rather be out one year too early than one year too late when it comes to players approaching their mid-30s.Β It's not so much who he's gone in for, it's more that he's started looking at the Rovers squad and trying to tempt some to Derby. 4 of our key players are out of contract in 12months and Eustace knows he'll be able to get them for a pittance because we're a financial wreck. I like Weimann but age and injuries are against him for sure. Be happy for him to sign up for another season if he proves his fitness. Not world ending stuff if he goes to Derby though Quote
JHRover Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Is this the bit where "we can't compete" with what Derby are offering (ignoring our billionaire ownership and the fact they are skint and were in admin a few years ago, and we'd go the same way as them if Venkys ever left)? Β Quote
