De Neve sounds like cheap squad filler material

But they've now become the 'marquee' signings because they cost a few hundred grand.

Agreed - Wrexham have ambition, glamour and the opportunity for the players to hugely raise their profile to help their football and post football careers. I imagine many players would take moderately less money to play there.

Plus Travis is from the Ormskirk area, possibly still lives around there so Wrexham isn't far away it's a no brainer for him if they are serious.

More serious is the fact these shithouses haven't bothered offering their captain, long serving player and academy graduate anything when this situation first reared its head over a year ago.

We need pace. It will give us options when we need to alter things during games. That alone will free up space for his teammates whenever De Neve is on the pitch. Anyone remember Reda Khadra?

This isnt the most positive. Seems to have surprised the locals who expected him to stay in the Belgian second division. Doesnt score, doesnt assist, poor end product, hasnt really developed and inferior to Bocat who Stoke signed and has struggled.

So literally another Hedges with pace.

To be fair if Hedges had pace , end product , goals and a right foot he’d be half decent 😂

Think it's 4.

People defend our slowness saying that "well none of there signings would get in our team anyway" but that misses the point, they have sorted there squad out early with what they need.

We'll still be messing about long into August because we are uncapable of getting deals done unless it's for someone that nobody else would even look at.

I remain convinced that the stooges have had Travis on the list for sales for the last couple of years.

Despite attempts to suggest that his plan to Ipswich was all the fault of big bad JDT I think this is too good and convenient to be true. I suspect he was instructed to offload the bigger earners and go younger and cheaper.

Unfortunately the Ipswich plan only worked temporarily by getting his wages off the books for 5 months, with their promotion they dropped any interest in signing him permanently. Then Eustace obviously wanted him back to build his team around him and other senior pros like Batth, Weimann etc. Not good.

Anyhow fast forward a year and they can return to plan A with a more compliant and willing manager who won't threaten to walk out.

Cash in, wages off the books and cheaper replacement the only name of this game.

I'm as critical as anyone over the bastards running our club but I've always maintained that money doesn't always guarantee you much in the championship unless you're spending mega like the yo-yo clubs. The rest of us have to try to do smart business.

I'm not saying De Neve will be one of those but the price paid for a player doesn't always equate to success. Take Gallagher for example he cost 5 million and Ohashi for 100k did better numbers.

Don't get me wrong, by the sounds of it, he'll probably be shit.

Absolutely fair comment, but we are fishing in very dangerous waters, just now.

Wrexham is a fair trek from Ormskirk.

We'll be at the back of the queue for any loans (cos we won't pay) so we'll be saddled with little boys like Cozier-Duberry and Clarkson again.

About a whopping 20 mins difference than to Blackburn Chaddy - sorry, Exiled - and it's a damn sight closer than Ipswich was or many of the others linked with him now.

Think  it's 4 and all 4 more than good enough for our squad with at least 2 of those good enough for our starting 11.

.TBH, think PNE done some good early business.

Trav has always wanted what's best for the club and the fans in my opinion, which is probably why they want rid of him. Can't have fan favourites getting in the way.

If we signed the sheff wed right back and Thompson on free from Stoke two bit part players with injuries records past their peak there would be uproar on here

gk and charlton rb good signings

Preston are fishing in the same waters as us but they had more of a pressing need given last season and obviously are putting their stock into lads with a bit of championship/English league experience rather than low level overseas punts.

We on the other hand need to be retaining the very important players we've got - Travis & Batth arguably are the most important - and signing a bit of quality to build on last season.

Instead we look like letting the best players leave again without a fight and rooting around for squad fillers with half a chance of increasing in value.  There is no specific aim here other than wage bill reductions and increasing slightly an already low squad valuation.

Looking at our expected transfer spend, remember when we signed Christian Dailly for about £5m in 1998?

Blew my mind then, and it blows my mind now.

Seems like a desperation signing on the face of it but of course if he does end up coming then everyone will give him a fair chance etc.
