What 13 year old?

Camden Schaper. 13 year old South African I think he is.

Nixon reported a couple of weeks back that Chelsea and Man City were offering 700k for him.

That's the one! Will probably leave and we'll never have seen him! Will pay for the floodlights for a season or two I guess.

As would anyone but its far less likely us being successful by signing loads of cheap foreigners rather than paying the going rate for proven championship playersΒ

If it was easy to be successful signing players from abroad for under a million then everyone would be doing itΒ

My opinion is that we're in the Championship by design.Β  For some reason the Prem is forbidden ground, ditto League 1.

When in League 1 we kept the squad and bounced straight back

Β When in the Prem they sack Sam and appoint a clearly incompetent dick who failed at his first objective by blowing his brief at Wolves but then managed to follow instructions at the second time of asking. Also a nice touch to sabotage our League Cup chances at the same time.

Since then we've had many opportunities to win promotion only to be shot in the foot by deliberate acts of sabotage by the owners and board (IMO), no money, admin "failures", good players sold or contracts allowed to expire.

I have absolutely no idea as to the rationale but the Venkys really need us to be in the Championship and will move heaven and earth to keep us there.

Consequently we won't have a sniff at promotion or relegation this season or any other season by design (IMO).

Oh and Chaddy is a bot by the way (IMHO) - that's a joke Chaddy ... mmm but wait a minute ...

Rovers selling youngsters as they don’t want to wait for compensation. Finneran still not settled and it’s been near enough a year, Tyjon will be next, Dolan comp will probably not be received this window. Ball ache trying to replace these players even if we intend to

Wasn't that Jack Walker who said that ? It certainly wasn't me. So it isn't a paraphrase.

I am not bothered who we sign, be they cheap players, or expensive ones. If the Rovers are successful, they have worked. If the Rovers aren't successful, then they have failed.

So are we actually getting paid Schaper? Even though he's 13? Not that it matters.

Gone to Chelsea apparently,

There was talk of Β£700k coming our way but no idea if it's confirmed.

We want cheap players, which is why we're looking in the French, Belgian and Dutch markets (and I assume Scandinavia and Eastern Europe).

We also want players with pace and Tronstad was good signing from the Dutch market. We have always look into the foreign Market whether its was Henning Berg or MGP or Roque Santa Cruz then Tronstad and Ohashi

I'm not against signing players from abroad if they are coming into a squad with a core of championship experience.Β

We lose the players that have only a year left plus Batth Weimann and Dolan and replace them with cheap foreign buys then it is extremely worrying.

I agree that we should have some championship experience players in the squad and I'm sure we will but we are looking for some pacey players so its no surprise we are looking overseas for that. Karbgo being one with pace. Our team has lacked that number of years

It appears that Derby haven't offered Batth a 2 year contract offer given Nicko's comments today.Β

So, he'll be signing back with us then?

But if they can't use the club as beforeΒ  (ability to write off/move/lose money) due to court cases then option B of a low cost almost self sustaining entity they can virtually ignore - but not have to sell and open the books - might be appealing.

Strikes me as having neither nous nor gravitas.Β  IMO, Gestede should simply not be in that role, novice or otherwise - he is fathoms out of his depth.

and there you have it - IMO, 3 footballing nobodies and the dumbing down process to all things Rovers is further entrenched.

There is absolutely no doubting the club's ambition.

The one factor that might just hold them back is their manager Phil Parkinson.Β  A decent track level BELOW Championship level but he's failed to cut it as Championship level with other clubs.Β  Would not surprise me if Parkinson is not an early managerial casualty as the ownership want success and quickly - they aint interested in 'consolidation' or 'projects'.Β

What is fascinating about Welcome to Wrexham is how they have rebuilt the club into a multi million dollar global brand.Β

The first duscussion the new CEO had with the Β owners in last season's series isΒ

1) Do you want to consolidate and stay in League one Β cost c 10 million quid

2) Do you want to get bak to back to back promotions. High risk high reward. Cost c 50 million quid.Β

They chose the second. They have probably had that discussion already for this season. And the answer is probably the same.Β

Our answer is #1 and there is probably no discussion. Waggott probably tried one at the end of rhe season and it was the end for him.Β

Tbf 700k for a 13 year old, makes sense to take that. If it weren't just vanishing into the black hole of Pune of course.

Plenty of highly hyped kids that age have gone nowhere, there's lots of development stages still to go. Maybe he's the next Adam Wharton, maybe he's the next Connor Mahoney (or worse).

If he is actually all that, they won't be going away and will get him in some summer before he breaks in anyway, at a similar cost. Might as well develop someone else instead (so they can get poached at 16...god this is depressing)
