The β€˜project’ is clearly buying young raw talent in order to develop them and sell them on. Gestede said as much iirc? What I’m surprised at is that they are actually following thru on their stated ambitions.Β
Β

The risks are obvious, I don’t think they need spelling out ad nauseam. However, if the club has chosen well the upsides are also obvious, exciting young wingers who can make things happen. And who doesn’t love watching an exciting winger?Β
Β

And the people saying it’s grim and we’re fooked and relegation is nailed on are the same people who said it for the past 2 summers.Β

At least three of them have some pace. Would be a big change for us, we're usually so pedestrian.Β

Ismael has said he wanted pace out wide and the club is trying to bring that in.Β

Same people with the same comments about relegation just last season. Time to judge this squad is in the opening weeks of the seasons not right now. We proved all these pundits and many people on here with last season performances and results.Β

Al-Sahafi only has 10 points on the GBE system,15 required, this would have to go to the exceptions panel.

Don't we have 1 ESC spot left open?Β

Every year we get weaker Chaddy. We never build by keeping the best and replacing the weakest.

We do the opposite in fact.

Its a miracle we got so close to the Playoffs but if we'd done what I'm suggesting we'd have walked it.

There is no plan, its a season to season operation depending on what money is available.

Now money is very scarce and we are gambling. We can't go on like this much longer.

Its not just about having 2 warm bodies per position, we need sufficient quality. You concede that Al-Sahafi would be a risk.

Out wide has been a weak position for a while and was an area we really needed to strengthen this summer. Im not saying either this Al-Sahafi (if there is truth in the rumour) or De Neve don't have ability and wont do well in time, but they are cheap, young punts and replace our only proven and competent winger.

Al-Sahafi - his only football at a reasonable standard was half a season at a Belgian club that got relegated. He is 21 and would need time to settle.Β

De Neve - quite young, has barely any goals or assists to his name, again relegated from the Belgian league and has often played at left back.

Kargbo - barely been seen, but again we dont know what we have with him. Appears raw.Β

Hedges - offers a similar attacking threat to Toth

Thats not a set of wingers that would give me any sort of excitement or confidence. It would put untold pressure on the 2 newbies (one who has very little senior experience) settling into the country to hit the ground running. And it would inevitably mean that Hedges who even as his biggest fan you concede should just be a squad player will play week in week out.

Get a Gassama or whatever on top of these and at least you could have some confidence in someone who has shown that he can perform well at this level. Putting less reliance on the cheap punts. I mean, we do have the Nixon warchest, right?

I have mentioned yesterday about having 2 players for each position but each players bringing different qualities to the team.Β

It will be interesting if Al-Sahafi does sign cos he can play all 3 forward positions(both wide and up front) from what I check out online and watching his reels online. So I am interested where Ismael seems him fitting in if he does sign.Β

I'm not doing another Hedges debate with you AGAIN, despite you goading me into another utter pointless debate discussing the same old points time after time.Β

Nixon never said a warchest did he? more lies but we have always made cheap punts whether its was Hughes signing Samba, Nelsen and Rigters or Allardyce with Nzonzi or GB with Tronstad and Ennis or even last summer with Ohashi, Gueye and Toth. Most have worked out right for us. Nixon said they are willing to back Ismael with some more money cos they liked him. So again, you are misleading or deliberately posting comments never said by anyone to suit your own agenda/argumentΒ

Blackburn Rovers remain interested in Marwan Al-Sahafi but a deal to sign the forward has not been agreed yet, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.

Dion De Neve and Sidnei Tavares are Valerien Ismael's two new additions this summer and Rovers are keen to bolster his squad further. A left-sided centre-back has been a priority position the recruitment team have been working on but they also need to add in forward areas.

The LT reported last month that Al-Sahafi was one of several wide players on their shortlist this summer. However, reports that a deal was advanced at that point were wide of the mark.

Speculation has ramped up once again after the 21-year-old posted an image on social media showing he was in Manchester over the weekend. However, it's understood that, at the time of writing, a deal hasn't been formally agreed between the two clubs.

Rovers remain interested in a move for Al-Sahafi but the situation is complicated by Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, who own him. There has been speculation around the future of Laurent Blanc, their first-team head coach. Until there is clarity around their management team, it's unlikely any transfer, permanent or loan, will be sanctioned.

Should that change, and things can move quickly in football, Rovers would be keen to try and reach an agreement. Adding pace and athleticism on the flanks has been a target all summer.

The 21-year-old scored six goals in 25 appearances on loan at Beerschot last season. Rovers have taken a keen interest in the Belgian Pro League in recent seasons after the capture of Makhtar Gueye and De Neve.

Ismael has spoken about the importance of his wide players having intensity and running power. That was a key driver in the signing of De Neve and Al-Sahafi's stats show similar qualities.

If Rovers did secure another overseas recruit, it would be their third of the summer. The club are not exclusively looking outside of the UK but clearly, that is where they feel they can maximise their transfer budget at the moment.

Legia Warsaw's Steve Kapuadi remains their top target at left-centre-back though they were linked with a move for Stockport County's Ethan Pye over the weekend. He is also left-footed and fits the profile they are trying to recruit for in defence.

Anyone believing that venkys "like" Ismael is on another planet.

They haven't a clue who he is.

Indeed. They certainly haven't met him in person, which is key to how this lot operate as we saw with Kean, Bowyer and Mowbray, but I very much doubt they've even spoken to him on the phone.Β

What the case is actually is that Pasha and his subordinate Gestede like Ismael because unlike JDT and Eustace he's currently willing to go along with their nonsense and isn't going to turn the spotlight on them in the media or try and get out of here asap.Β

I say currently because I don't think it will be long - perhaps September - before Ismael realises what he's dealing with and starts looking for an exit.

So yeah the two remaining stooges are probably quite happy with him and prepared to push their budgets as far as they can to help him. Just a shame that those budgets are pitiful and don't involve the owners pumping money in - it is all coming from funds the club generates itself, which isn't enough.

Like Kargbo, this fella seems like he'll be quite raw and probably not ready for first team Championship football straight away.

Apparently players that have been relegated from the Belgium top division is our standard right now.

That's just it we do get weaker year on year, honestly I'm not putting us up for relegation co temption just yet there's older teams around the league injury prone players and everyone has injuries. That's the championship mo one can ever predict who will end up where. Let's stick it out til Xmas then judge as that's our tail of point

I hate the fan group on Facebook. All the fans there are Venky lovers. All consuming whatever shite is served up to them.

The constant dumbing down of our fan base has now led to a situation where some fans will take anything.Β

Not sure why you would think this.

1. He is under no pressure to succeed.

2. He has a 3 year deal and is unsackable because we have no money, so if he does leave at any time in the next 3 years it will be on his own terms.

3. Owners don't give a shite.

4. Fanbase divided between people just happy there is a club to go and support on Saturdays and fans who blame the owners (correctly) for everything going wrong with the club.

I would say he cannot believe his luck.

For me his presence at the Club gets curiouser and curiouser by the day.

I can't accept that all this would be a complete surprise to him after what happened to the TWO previous head coaches. Nor can I accept that anyone rational would think that RG's supposed model of either buying cheap or trying to develop Academy products then not reinvesting any proceeds could possibly work.

The only possibilities I can think of are that like Lambert years before he's concluded it's easier to get another job whilstΒ  in employment as opposed to being on the scrap heap and has one foot out of the door before he's even arrived.

Or, after a year out of work, perhaps he is simply willing to work under whatever conditions the three (or temporarily now two) stooges are prepared to throw at him as long as he can draw Β£600k p.a.

Norwich spending an initial 6.9m on a 23 year old striker from Brondby.

Not that I want Rovers to spend big on players with no Championship experience, but just having a bit more flexibility when it comes to the transfer budget would be quite niceΒ πŸ˜‚.
