This is the strangest bunch of summer signings I've witnessed so far and are no doubt absolutely dog shit.

Think you are absolutely right.

Alebiosu not good enough for a relegated Belgian Pro League side and loaned to St Mirren who I doubt would even survive in the Championship.

Doubt we've paid more than £200k for the lad and would think we've signed 3 cheap, unproven and virtually unkown players for about £750k up front.  These are not signings of the Tronstad, Sigurdsson ilk.

Very much doubt any of Alebiosu, De Neve, Tavares good enough to hold down a place in our starting 11.

Could be an educated guess though as all signs point to Brittain extending

Hope you’re right, haven’t seen many of these signs you refer to myself though

tavares and alebiosu will be definate starters, though i`ve got an inkling that de neve will be so bad that he won`t be seen anywhere near the first team squad

But reinvesting a chunk would perhaps lead to a small loss in that year but give us assets to then sell in the future and continue the cycle.

But they dont have the care to think like that.

Look at Brentford and what they did. Regularly selling big money strikers, reinvesting and continuing to churn out big sales.

Yes I would like to spend more money on some signings

If he has absolutely no contacts then he is hardly a journalist is he.

He is a reporter who regularly spits out articles riddled with spelling errors and unnecessary cliches.

I am unsure how you span it back to saying how wonderful "Nicko" is.

Point being Nicko has more national contacts and Jackson doesn't. If we are looking overseas Jackson won't have contacts out there.

What do you want him to do?

One thing i will say this is the third signing now they have kept under wraps until the deal has been practically done. Don't think any of the 2 signed or this guy have been mentioned anywhere until a day or so before the club announced them

We are signing players from teams which will have very little coverage which makes it much easier.

So likely 3 signings and all seem to fall in the same category. It seems like they are signed as squad players and all of them have question marks regarding their career to date. They all are almost certainly on low wages too.

De Neve has often played at left back, has seldom scored/assisted and surprised Belgian journalists with this move. Tavares has made very few senior starts beside a spell in the Porto B team and this right back couldnt even make the team that De Neve was in (Gestede really loves a player contracted to a relegated Belgian team) although seems to have had a really brief spell in Scotland where he impressed.

I can sort of understand and see a pattern in these signings, aside from the financial one. All of a similar if not the same age, not at their peak and should bring some athleticism to a one paced squad. Permanent deals are ideal too. Hopefully something has been seen in them that we can develop and they can really push and provide actual competition before then taking over in the first 11.

This right back obviously replaces (at a profit) JRC and a £750k move to Charlton might suit all parties. He has ability but has struggled for a while.

There were numerous aims coming into this window. We have lacked quality in depth which has cost us repeatedly for years, lets hope these 3 are a start at rectifying that and they arent just cheap shite. We dont know either way at this stage. We also needed to tie down a core of strong Championship players, no progress there. We also needed to improve our best 11 especially getting far more goals into attacking positions. No progress there yet. Lots more to do, hopefully very soon.

Sontjis window we could lose Baath, Dolan, Weiman, Trav, Tronstadt, Brittain.  Just ket that sink in a minute.  SIX first teamers all to be replaced with nobodys.  Well on the way to 3rd division, middle of.  So friggin tragic what has happened.  Make a good documentary that the 135/15.  Highlight the success if the lil town team even after Jack passed. Compare that with the Venkie's tenure, include all the olayer and contract mis-management, Kean the unfireable, agent shennanigans all of it.  The world needs to know.  Something is very wrong in Pune and I wonder if a couple if shovels worth of digging might just show illegalities.  It just stinks and is so mindbiggling.

Any other Championship team that was in similar positions in January wiuld have backed their manager to the hilt in an effort to get to the prem.  Our lot?  Well they did it in such a fashion that both our managers walk. Stinks.

Why does it necessarily have to be a Travis replacement?. We know how important it is to have a strong squad in the Championship and this has been half of our issue that we never have a decent bench to try and change games. This could mean we are selling Buckley, Rankin-Costello, Garrett? Our main midfield four options to start with could be Tronstad, Travis, Tavares & Mannsverk - not dreadful by any means with a couple of youngsters under these four.

Nothing to suggest we are selling Travis aside from lazy journalism linking him to Derby and Tronstad has said himself he wants to stay. We are more likely to let Travis walk for free next year than sell him this year. For now he is under contract for this coming season.

This is Venkies so it is quite simple.  Which player(s) would fetch most?.

Did we have the budget to only scout one game last season? And they chose a Belgian league relegation 6 pointer?

The beer was worth it.

Obligatory YouTube highlights with the caveat of being a few years old. Looks to have good pace and able to get his head up to pick out crosses.

Whats interesting is the profile of players being sought. With the new rb, it’s clear that the manager wants pace and energy from those wide defensive positions. If we weren’t so light at cb I would be convinced this was a shift to a 343. Might still be the case if they convert Pickering or Ribeiro into a Lcb? Still time to add more cb’s in this window though.

Add in Tavares and the public chase of Steve Kapaudi and it’s a clear shift in style. From the ‘All out attack’ of JDT, to ‘cautious’ John Eustace, Big Val is going all ‘Heavy Metal’ on us, right? Focus on physical attributes - power, pace, high energy! Whether any of these players are much kop remains to be seen but it’s an interesting change nevertheless.

Based on where we are right now, were we not to sell any of our key players, I’d say we need a cb, (or two), another creative #10 and another quick wide forward.

Fwiw - I have a feeling that Ohashi and Gueye can have brilliant campaigns this season after a year bedding in. Backed up by a fully fit Leonard and Tyjon.

Buckley and JRC need to move on, for everyone’s sake. Both talented but haven’t lived up to it.

And almost 15 years on we're still in the same league under the same fucking owners being run as the same old circus... So excuse my pessimism.

Yep correct but I’m just showing that because we haven’t heard of these signings etc doesn’t mean we’re automatically doomed - judgement should be made in season

again I refer to last year batth the main one got laughed off this forum and now we’re gutted he’s gone

Totally against the regime hate venkys hate pasha and all before them but there’s no way they let all 3 go this summer

I'd rather sign up squad players with potential to develop instead of prem loans who try for 4 months before making cameos.

Ennis, Leo, Tele etc signed up by Broughton as squad back up/development players cost about 2 million between them and were shite contributing virtually nothing.

However he got out of jail getting a few quid back so financially not much harm done but on the field it badly cost us because there was nothing to fall back on when needed.

There's a bigger risk to it than the Prem loans and i think we've yet to see one of these types of signings come to fruition so lets hope this recruitment lot have done their homework beyond looking at running stats.

So where are we at squad wise now? I do agree that we might be trying to transition to 3-4-3 based on the signings. I'd guess:

Toth

Hyam, New CB?, Pickering?

Brittain, Tron, Trav, Hedges

Cantwell, Ohashi, Kargbo

Backups:

Pears

Carter, Wharton, Ribeiro

Alebiosu, Tavares, Forshaw , De Neve

Tyjon, Gueye, Leonard

We definitely need strengthening in the forward areas as backup for Cantwell/Kargbo, we can't go into a season relying on Tyjon and Leonard.

Likewise, CB is a little weak until we sign someone, I also don't quite trust idea of Riberio/Pickering at CB.

any news on the ajax lad????

Not happening, we are incapable of signing players that would go into the first 11.

Legia Warsaw have agreed a 2.6m deal to buy Rajovic from Watford. They are supposedly cash strapped so possibly we’ve actually bid close to that amount and they are reinvesting or the more likely case is another club have gazumped us whilst we offered peanuts

No way are we paying what they want for him.

The actual story in the LT paints a different picture. St Mirren manager very complimentary about him and saying he changed their dynamic cos he played like an actual winger. Other Championship clubs in for him but he wants to come to Rovers.

Was a good article until I read that, now I dont believe any of it!

Unfortunately, very soon they will be good enough, but it won't be down to them improving.
