I wonder if the 2 or 3 is before any outgoings and Miller is on top of that.

Also, seeing as Miller could potentially fill in at centre back, I wonder if this gives us more scope to fill those "2 or 3" spots purely in attack. As we are badly short there. Assuming Miller joins, I would say right wing, number 10 and striker are all bigger priorities than centre back and central midfield as much as we could do with more there aswell.

Jackson keeps peddling the line that we want "competition" on the right. We dont, we want some really quality, not another Hedges.

well he ain't going to Derby is he like you said. Give it up Mercer.Β

We lined up his replacement already and Miller is set to sign over the weekend according to Nixon and JacksonΒ

Lol. πŸ™‚

Chaddy seemingly proved completely wrong about Brittain not going anywhere but still coming out swinging.

You're like the boxer who gets knocked spark out then when he comes round has to be restrained from getting at his opponent because he doesn't realise the fight is over.

The next priority has to be right sided attacking player now.Β

Love the way you make it sound how losing Brittain was part of the grand masterplan, has made us stronger and we need to move onto RW next!

Yes - having downgraded at RB we need to downgrade from Dolan at RW as well next.

Well I always he would stay here but looks like he's a goner so but I'm not the saying he was going Derby yet they haven't made a bid since before the Stanley game and still nothing. The same poster said that same week Brittain was set to sign a new contract.Β

Fight? Give it a rest Rev

Normally we would get north of Β£5m for a player like Brittain but with one year left on his contract he's one of the bargains of the summer.Β

Will be difficult to replace, and any replacement will be a downgrade. Wonder where our goals and assists will come from...heavy burdens on the shoulders of Ohashi and Gueye this season. Are they good enough to deliver 10+ goals each?

Yes, if they get service.

Yes. Nixon says its done. Jackson says he will be Brittain's replacementΒ

well he`s not short on physical presence, though a completely different player to brittain,he is`nt going to rampage down the flank

Personally think brittain is one of the best RBs in the league, and therefore in my opinion we’ve downgraded. Fear for the right hand side, if this miller isn’t very attacking and with hedges further up, it looks pretty bleak, hopefully some of the brittain money and whatever else we have lying around gets us a good Rw, pace, bit of tricky wouldn’t go a miss. Not just a happy we’ve signed a RW. I want a starting 11 RW with hedges dropping to the bench. Bored of losing our better players now, always replacing with inferior players, it’s never a case of let’s upgrade, build on the better players we have. Rinse and repeat every year. That’s why we’ve been stagnant for the last 15years.Β

Bit concerning this lad is injured β€˜for weeks’ as is Tavares. We know how long they take to get up to speed down at Brockhall.

Is he? I read it as it meaning a couple of weeks since July 19th, which is essentially now.

you can`t stand still in football, sooner or later our policy of selling/releasing our better players and replacing them with ones not as good will relegate us,everyone in the division is strenghtening, apart for sheff wed and hull,so we`de better be careful imo

Moving the goal posts again Mercer, your info was wrong. Derby haven't even made another bid since over 3 weeks ago.Β

Supposedly Boro is his preferred destination from most of the reports out if a bid is acceptΒ

The facts are Chaddy:

  • You said Brittain was going nowhere
  • My information wasn't wrong, in fact it was spot on!Β  I was told he would leave the club by the end of the week and at theΒ time I posted (Monday), Derby were leading the way.Β  You say "Derby haven't even made another bid since over 3 weeks ago" - you are deluding yourself - why do you think I was told as of Monday morning 'Derby were leading the way'!?!?Β  I think it's clear Brittain wants away and my understanding is Rovers wanted to 'lance the boil' sooner rather than later.
  • I never said he was going to Derby - show meΒ a post where I said that !?!?
  • Armed with the Hackney money Middlesbrough upped the stakes and whilstΒ it's now looking Brittain is going there, it aintΒ over until the fatΒ lady sings
  • As far Brittain preferring Middlesbrough - what do you really expect him to indicate when it looks like Middlesbrough have landed a knockout blow?Β  Brittain is hardly likely to say 'I'll sign for you but Derby was my preferred destination'

Trouble is Chaddy, I think you are extremely gullible, you fail to read and understand other posts and you churn out erroneous stuff just to fit your own agenda.

why asked me then? utter pointless asking me that question.Β

Who knows when it was film. Rovers could have had training this morning and then fly to Holland later in the day. I don't know.Β Β

So you’ve gone from β€˜Well he was training with rovers today’ to β€˜I don’t know’… that’s some turn around after posting something as fact to actually admitting you don’t have a clue.

Unusually (as I usually argue with him) I’ve got to back Mercer up a bit. He didn’t say Brittain was off to Derby, he said on Monday that derby were leading the way, quite a different statement.

You’ve had a bit of a shocker all round Chaddy lad.Β

Mercer, just accept he isnt going to Derby like you said they were leading the race. They haven't put another bid in. Boro did. Why is the Derby's bid? Nowhere in sight. Derby's bid was lowering than Boro.Β

It was only the week before the Stanley game he was signing a new contract here.Β

Eustace's record before he left was 2 wins from 11 games.Β
