The idea that he didnt want promotion didnt make sense on any level. Illogical, conspiracy theorist nonsense. It would have been a massive pay rise and a huge boost to his CV. Just wasnt capable which is a seperate matter. Hence why in that last season he got publically pissed off with the owners for doing what they do best to every manager we have and totally cut away any prospect of promotion.

Either way, the way his name triggers some all these years after is really unhealthy.

He hasn't been offered a contract. So any head turning or wanting away has been caused by Rovers making it clear he won't be getting a suitable offer to stay here.

Look I hate the two stooges as much as the next guy, but they and Ismael clearly recognise we need to put a squad together.

They won't reinforce in January if we're doing surprisingly well, but they are keen on staying in the division so will spend the bare minimum to do so (which we currently are).

I hope they do recognise it, I really do.

Everything seems like a cost cutting exercise with these lot though.

De Neve I'm not convinced about but, equally, don't know too much about him. Doesn't look to have the physicality for the Championship and not known for his technical ability either. Purely workrate and versatility; perhaps a better version of Chris Taylor. A decent squad player but the issue for us is that he looks like he's going to be a starter.

Alebiosu is someone who I think will be out of his depth at this level and will be shipped out within 12 months but I could be wrong!

I agree on all this...De Neve will struggle I think, seems to press well and has a good engine but I think that's about it. Hopefully I'm wrong but says it all when fans Kortrijk were scratching theirs heads on the move.

Regarding Trav, I suspect he isn't going to sign a contract and is stringing us along to go to Derby on a bigger wage in a year under a gentleman's agreement. If so, get him sold now. I know he's the club captain, I know things are shit at the club but just take the money and get a few more bodies in the door. 

 

You can't have your captain not being 100% commited, players will pick up on it.

Well they're not doing a very good job of it thus far. Even if the signings who've come in are up to the sort of standard required we appear to be assembling a squad potentially completely overloaded with midfielders and barely any striking options/complete lack of goals in it.

So either not being offered a new contract or one which doesn't reflect anything like your true worth makes you not committed? Weird take.

If there's one player I'd want alongside me in the trenches when the chips are down it's Travis.

I do now expect him to be sold though as the cost cutting continues unabated.

I think anybody who isn’t going to be 100% committed out on the pitch needs to go.

However I think Travis is the sort of player that once he steps over the white line all other issues go out of his head and he just wants to win. It’s a personal thing that’s born in you. Not everybody has it, but I think he has.

On your first part, my post was a guess at what was possibly/likely happening. He like many of them liked playing under Eustace. As it's a job like any other, you're going to want to work for the managers you enjoy working for. I don't think playing for Rovers has got anything to do with it tbh, he'll have seen all his mates get moves and will want to jump ship aswell probably. This is all guesswork of course but what I'm saying is him moving has an air of inevitability about it. If the discussions haven't progressed because he's going to join Derby in a year, sell now and have a better shot at replacing him. That's all I was saying, surely not hard to understand. 

 

I'd love him to re-sign but I know and you know that isn't going to happen.

Rovers still want to add a right-winger and cover at centre-back before the transfer window ends. That is assuming there are no further unplanned exits, such as Callum Brittain's move to Middlesbrough.

 

Though a dip into the loan market has not been ruled out, Rovers are keen to sign players permanently and develop them. With the club keen to create assets, owning the players if of importance to ensure they're not growing other teams' players.
