What's the 'I joined because it's a family club' thing about? Seems odd no? He's only on loanΒ

Someone didn't get the memo.

Used to be a family club. Now it's a zombie club.

If he's on loan for a year, does he actually take an ESC place?

Yes.

Why has this Alofayan rumour snowballed so much? Not seen anything beyond a rumour along with about 14 other teams.

Because of that loose link, and the fact we can't sign a ESC player for the role.

Folk just assuming.

A loan makes no sense at all. He flops, we don't sign him. He excels, a bigger club snaps him up. Either way, he won't be here next season.

We can probably sign him and sell him on, if he's a success.

Christ - while that makes sense to a degree, Travis has gone and we haven't actually properly replaced him.

When was the last time we exercised an option to buy?

Siggurdson which wasn’t all that long ago and then we loaned Ribero before signing permanentlyΒ

He doesn’t know does he? Another person being lied unless he’s been told to say thatΒ

The loan means Rovers have the option to sign him. Deal with club and terms with player agreed.

The only way another club gets him is if Rovers don’t trigger the option.

Easy to forget we have billionaire owners, having spent about Β£5m in the same period that we've received circa Β£40m in players sales, lost 600+ games worth of championship experience this summer alone, & slashed player wage bill & the women's team.

How lucky we were to have "an exciting summer" to look forward to!!

Ribeiro was a free transfer, never on loan

Sigurdsson wasn't technically a loan either as his contract with his Russian club was "paused"

Armstrong was on loan before we bought him, but don't think there was an option

Zeefuik had an option, that worked out well πŸ˜‰Β

I see the regime has "done a job" on poor Elliott Jackson again this week.

'His sources' - aka the club - have told him it could be a deal worth Β£3 millionΒ

Doesn't then take much for the moronic element of our support base to start clapping like seals at what a good deal our negotiators have secured (again, it doesn't actually matter as Β£1 million or Β£5 million makes no odds, it isn't going into transfers or improvements and we're signing a loan on less money)

But nonetheless it's worked because any outrage over this deal dissipates when Jackson and his acolytes can applaud it as a 'good deal'

The only party here getting a good deal is Derby, picking up a solid, experienced, fit as a fiddle captain of good character for next to nothing in modern terms, whilst we go with our begging bowl to the minor leagues of Europe signing a loanee who might not be good enough or fit enough for what is needed

Its just horrible to watch it unfold. I feel ashamed at what this club has become, basically throwing prized valuable players out to the likes of Derby and Middlesbrough so the stooges can rip the squad up, hit their cost saving targets and do favours for their mates.

If the player doesn't want to sign at the end of the loan period, whether it's because he's homesick or because there's interest from other Clubs, I dont see how you can force him.

Bit like a player being under contract who wants to leave who's under contract but refuses to play. You can stop paying him, make him train with the reserves etc, but it's not much actual use to you.

He has literally signed a legal document stating he will move if the option is triggered, so can be "forced"

In reality, if another club wants to sign him for more money, he signs for Rovers at the legally pre agreed price, for the legally pre agreed wage, & is then immediately sold.Β  It is not that odd an occurrence

You can force him to sign a document joining the ClubΒ  but in reality if he doesn't want to play it's worthless.

Like you say you'd have to try and flip him for a profit - or if there were no takers you wouldn't bother exercising the option.

Either way there very little chance he's here in 12 months time imo. Either he flops and we dont want him or he excels and doesn't want us.

It is all so disgusting but right on track with the Venkies masterplan, a team holding it's own in division 3.

You know I spent a good few years following us when we were crap but I was still proud.Β  Proud to be a Rovers fans, happy to spend a lot if not all my disposable income following us every.hime game and as many aways I could handle.Β  Now we are crap and I am bitter about it, it's not the same, been mad at the board before but never this hatred I have for them.Β  They are an embarrassment to football.Β  I will eagerly await Venkies book release year after.next, "Destroying a once proud football team.for.Dummies"

splitting hairs, but he has already signed it

There is a 3rd option that he does "ok", we sign him, & he plods along, but yes, think your 2 options are the most likely there

Think it's a sign of a desperate journalist who sits uncomfortably with fan scrutiny - what normal person swears on their child's life about a transfer fee!?

Fair enough I don’t think there’s many we’ve had an option on but not taken up thoughΒ

Yes, you're right there is a 3rd option, he stays fit but just isn't very good and doesn't attract much interest and the option fee is set low enough for us to trigger.

Think we all know that if it's was aΒ  Gregg Broughton style option to purchase for 7m E there wouldn't be a cat in hell's chance we'd be exercising it.

The last one I can think of with an option we actually exercised is DJ Cambell.

Am I right in also thinking that one who came in on loan without an option who we signed after the loan finished was Luke "Reg" Varney.

Both absolute dogshit which makes you wonder why we signed either of them. Agents at work?

So if he lives up to the hype (on here) he goes back to Yverdon and they sell him elsewhere for a higher fee?Β
