Polky Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Shame to see him go, but injuries have held him back and he needs to be playing games.  Peterborough are pretty spot on with their striker recruitment so could sell him on in a few years for profit. Glad we’ve got the protection of add ons and the sell on percentage. Quote

The lad has been injured for the past 18months, he's nearly 22, and when he has played, he's been bullied. League 1 will be right for him and if he does turn out to be good, we have a sell on. Nah mate. You’ve only got to have watched him and listened to his coaches to know that his ceiling is VERY high. If he’d been fit, like Bucko and not hitting the heights then I’d have happily waived him off. But for a million quid, why not just loan him for a season? If he can stay fit and score goals, we’ve got a great lad coming back to us next summer. If he flops, and / or continues to breakdown, then he’s had his chance. Like I said, this is the one I’m gonna stick my nick out in and say, well regret! Quote

TommyRovers Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago There’s something quite sad about our purge of academy graduates this summer. Really disappointed about Leonard. Would have preferred a loan deal. Big fan of his and think he has huge potential.  injuries have really set him back but he can recover from them and smash it in league one. Would love to see him back someday. 3 Quote

Posh don’t buy shit strikers mate. Wouldnt surprise me in the slightest to see them polish him up for a season or two, him score a bucket load of goals and get sold for a princely sum to a top Championship / Lower PL team. Watch this space. 🙈 Quote

I’m gonna stick my neck out and say this will be the sale we will live to regret. We shouldn’t be selling him. Arggghh Peterborough know a thing or two about signing players with a lot of upside. They’re one of the best wheeler dealers in the EFL. If he can stay fit I think we will regret this decision. 1 Quote
Eddie Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Decent fee for a player who's nowhere near good enough or consistently fit enough to be a significant part of our squad. Always a shame when a young player is held back by injuries, but League One is probably his level. 1 Quote
roversfan99 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago To be fair, just because the coaches at the academy thought he was going to go on and do well doesnt make it 100% likely. If they genuinely thought the same about Buckley then that proves it. His development has also been massively hampered to the point where even if it was felt that he would go on and do well, those expectations may need reigning in considering the amount of development missed. Peterborough have signed some good strikers who have gone on to do very well but they have also signed duds like anyone. Its a big fee for someone who isnt close to being first team ready and with many injury question marks. 1 1 Quote
rog of the rovers Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Leonard has made just 10 starts for Rovers since breaking into the team at Huddersfield 10th April 2023. His last Championship start for Rovers was away at West Brom 13/1/24 under JDT! I agree with the majority that feel there is a player in there, but 10 starts in two and a bit seasons shows his lack of availability. Edited 5 hours ago by rog of the rovers 2 Quote
jim mk2 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Leonard is another Academy player who wasn't quite good enough to make the Championship grade. Hope he makes a success of it at Posh and if he can steer clear of injury he could score alot of goals for them Also hope we've got a sell-on clause, because another club might take a punt on him in a few years The clearout continues and it might not be a bad thing - some of these fringe players needed to move on The question is whether the new boys are any better.  Quote

I don’t know for sure….just looking at the way our transfers seem to pan out. Maybe you’re right but I don’t think a selling club should be operating like that. Surely it’s in their interest to maximise the price they get. 1 Quote

Definitely could become a good championship striker if he stays injury free. The good news for us is that it very likely means we're close to bringing in a striker. Quote

And injuries at that age to your back lead into the hamstring I feel he will always be hampered with this Quote

Lucimo Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Sorry to see Harry go. Had high hopes for him but injuries seem to be an issue. I'm interested to know what the sell on %Â is. Pity we didn't put a buy back option in, just incase. I'm with others and think this one might sting down the line. Quote
roverstdt Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The good news from a psr perspective as it is considered pure profit from academy sales should leaves us way more wiggle room. Like with Wharton Quote
Ricky Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I would have preferred a loan but if a loan hadn’t gone well we’d potentially be getting a lot less for him. I would hope for a decent sell on but as the fee is fairly decent for an unproven player with a history of injuries I’m guessing it’s on the lower %. Quote

bluebruce Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I think we can say with confidence that the 3000 or whatever minutes aim for Academy graduates is out the window this season. Travis, Buckley, JRC and Leonard all gone. Numerous players brought in from first teamers to squad fillers. It was going to be a stretch to reach it as it was before the summer trading. Tbc I'm not sad about it, it was always a stupid thing to have as a material target. 2 Quote
