My opinion. If he stays fit, he will be a far better player than either of our current incumbents. Which in itself is a red flag…time will tell.

Ok but that's vague, I'm asking you what aspect of his game makes you think that?

I have a similar opinion to Mani on Leonard.

The big if, is his body holding up to play most games in a 46 game season when he is first choice. There is definitely something to work with there.

Loan would have been ideal, but as said above I suspect its not purely football reasons this one.

Good luck to him, if his body holds up, by time he's 25/26 I could see him being a 10/15 goal a season man at this level.

Getting actual money for Leonard is unreal business. Also, come on who has put this on his Wikipedia? Its either someone on here or his Mum

"Leonard is a marksman with an impressive eye for goal, with intricate movement and hold-up play. He is excellent at holding possession and playing with his back towards the goal. He does a lot of unselfish work and is technically efficient"

I hope he smashes it

I am hearing he was involved in a row about one of the two female employee(s), who have left/ been edged out...

Didn’t he also get chucked in the under 21’s and told to find another club?

Late to the party but I'm afraid there's a severe lack of class in these Les Field comments and it's things like this that make you wonder if they were in fact right to pot her............

For the club to be such a big part of your life (20 years?) you should have more respect for it... no matter how your time comes to an end. The fans don't need goading with petty "so glad we're out" comments from anyone.

I'm all for Venky's out and bringing in a better board but the comments show a lack of intelligence. You'd expect better from a player liaison old enough to be their mum but maybe not from the academy players.

I don't want to see another "glad we're out" comment. Focus on your next job and if there are issues at Rovers you know about and can voice, at least maintain some professionalism with it.

Leonard going for 7 figures is a great sale, like Buckley both have talent but just weren't doing it for different reasons. I hope the club are able to bring a few more first team options in by Monday..... strikers need upgrading and I did want a better centre back.

Interested to see what they can pull off!

Let’s hope he doesn’t fall out with the supporters of the Smit might hit the fan.

I’ll get my coat…

You should glue your coat to yourself so this doesn't happen again.

Good signing for Peterborough, great move for the player, and decent money for us. Definitely could become a good championship striker if he stays injury free.

The good news for us is that it very likely means we're close to bringing in a striker.

Yup, makes the striker links more realistic. We’ve likely agreed something with someone to allow Leonard to go. Interesting next few hours…

I think he will have asked to leave to get consistent minutes and a settled future rather than having a potential bad season on loan and end up at a career dead end in 12 months.

Makes sense all round.

I think Leonard has potential, but I'm curious, what aspect of his game makes you think he has a 'VERY' high ceiling?

His movement is very good.

The "potential" was there but he never quite did it. Often in the right position but couldn't quite get the finishing touch or missed the target.

League Cup game at Stamford Bridge I went to a couple of seasons ago: through on goal early in the second half and put the ball wide when it looked easier to score and didn't even test the keeper.

Summed him up for me: Not quite good enough

Whilst I am sad to see so many players that have been at the club for years go, I am also happy with the decision to cut ties when we don’t think they are good enough / will play enough. Particularly Buckley, JRC and now Leonard. If this means that we get a striker in, hopefully better than one of Gueye and Ohashi, then this is a good move.

I like what we are ‘trying’ to do. Wish it wasn’t as extreme as it is regarding high turnover of players (I would have liked to have kept Britain, Travis and Dolan if only to see if he could continue his form under VI), but I am cautiously optimistic.

I understand that a driver for this is wage reduction, but I also like the type of athletic players with hopefully a winning mentality!

Either his back is absolutely fucked or something has gone on behind the scenes and he's upset people.

Crossed Pasha over the liaison officer debacle?

When you break down the fundamental assets of a good striker I'm not sure Leonard excels in any.

Strength - no

Quick - no

Can link play - no

Movement - decent

Good finisher - not particularly

2 footed - not particularly

Good one on one - No

Good in the air - no

Fitness/availability - not great

The one thing I will say is that he does have a penalty box knack of being in the right place at the right time but doesn't have that ice blood in his veins when the chances present themselves.

On the face of it for me, no great loss but a little sad as he has come through the system and seems a decent lad. 1 million looks a great deal for us but, as usual with this lot, means sod all to us as fans if the money disappears.

I wish him well, hope he stays fit and makes a success of it.

£1m + sell on %

Gutted because he's an academy lad, hoped he would go on loan, stay injury free and hit some form.

On the other hand, the lad just can't stay fit and his injuries are always long term. Probably the best move for all parties tbh.

Sunderland mate saying were going for Browne on a season loan deal. Cant get in to the Sunderland team. Hope we can pull that of with Travis leaving.

Also a decent fee considering his injuries, and future proofing with add ons and a sell on too

Rovers absolutely need an extra centre forward though

Harry Leonard - Top player, injuries have blighted his career so far but if he can shake them off, has a VERY high ceiling!

I’m gonna stick my neck out and say this will be the sale we will live to regret. We shouldn’t be selling him. Arggghh

3rd time we've agreed recently. 😁

To be replaced by some dollop who ends up to be Telalovic Mk 2 no doubt.

Bit of a strange link. Scored a good amount in the second dutch league but many were penalties and hasnt adapted to the top flight.

As @MarkBRFC said would he even be able to sign or would he need an ESC place?

Looks like he falls one point short.

He’d have got that point if they’d qualified for Europe through the league (they did so through the cup).

A good argument to make to the exceptions panel??
