TommyRovers Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Browne, Gudjohnsen and this Dutch striker would be a remarkable end to the window. Might have too many strikers to keep happy! Quote

Tugayisgod Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Can anyone put their finger on what has changed regarding Rovers transfer policy this window ? It appears that the mantra of any revenue from outgoing transfers not being reinvested in the squad has gone completely out of the window (thank god), and that loan signings will be a last resort. Have to say I for one, am all for it  1 Quote

Have to say I for one, am all for it  Maybe the fans forum gave Pasha the wonderfully out of the box idea of actually reinvesting a % of money from sales Which he apparently had never thought of before it was mentioned to him 1 1 Quote

I thought they had weird naming conventions over there? I wasn't expecting him to be a Gudjohnson. 2 Quote
philipl Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Yes there is a striker in Harry Leonard but in the few appearances I saw of him he was the easiest forward I can recall seeing for a Championship defender to legitimately ease off the ball. Hope they serve a lot of spinach in the Peterborough canteen... Very surprising 1m coming in for him- not on my bingo card for the end of the transfer window. But the problem is my bingo card is jammed in the fax machine. 2 Quote

RG has sold Pahsa the idea that no player should be paid above 10k a week and success (not promotion because he has stated that is not the aim) can still be achieved. Outgoings are broadly similar to income (will be if a new striker comes in) but plenty has been saved on wages, Raya money, backroom staff, SWAG etc). Agents presumably still being paid. Might have too many strikers to keep happy! Think VI has seen what us fans have seen for a while - we are powderpuff up top. Two new strikers suggests that hasn't gone unnoticed by the coaching team. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ohashi used more on the RW, where I thought he was really good at the beginning of last season. Definitely think Gueye is out the door in Jan. Think VI has already seen enough and deemed him nowhere near good enough. Quote
iSeeRed Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I think selling Leonard is the right choice given the fee. I noticed on a few occasions he'd get into a good position with the ball and then almost seize up even if just for a split second before shooting by which time a defender had the chance to stick a leg out and block it. I think that the ability to get a shot off when you get the chance is often innate and is the barrier between a player who scores for in the comparatively low-pressure and low-pace academy league games becoming a professional striker in the championship. Of course it may have developed if he hadn't had so many injury problems but to me he just didn't posses that killer instinct, he may however thrive in the lower leagues and hit double figure seasons where he has more time to think about his shots. DeNeve might have his nose pushed out of joint though. Quote

arbitro Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It's a real shame about Harry Leonard leaving as I really thought he was destined for the top but injuries have impeded his progress. I hope he stays fit and I really hope we have inserted buy back and a healthy sell on clauses in the deal. 2 Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Would Smit not need an ESC slots? Gudjohnsen in and Leonard out I'm fine with...although its always sad to see an academy player go, Leonard just never looked like he'd be able to get a solid run of games behind him. I can't see Rovers bringing in 2 strikers when we only pay 1 up top. Unless Gueye is on his way as well, which I highly doubt. Quote
Lucimo Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago No clue on the points system with regards to overseas signings, but would Gudjonnsen qualify. I notice he was born in London so maybe that is enough. Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Down to two strikers in the squad now. We had Ramsey's Wingless Wonders - now meet Ismael's Toothless Terrors! Quote
